Technology Updates:New Broadcast Pix Commander Systems Simplify Live Production with Intuitive Touchscreen Control

Chelmsford, Massachusetts – Nov. 30, 2016 – Broadcast Pix™ today announced Broadcast Pix Commander™, a new series of live production systems featuring a streamlined touchscreen interface that allows non-technical personnel to easily execute sophisticated productions. Designed for government, corporate, education, house of worship, and live events, Commander’s intuitive control dramatically simplifies switching, robotic camera control, and the inclusion of graphics, clips and effects. Instead of a complex traditional switcher control panel, Commander is controlled through an uncomplicated touchscreen interface. As a result, operators with no experience can quickly learn to produce broadcast-quality productions.

Commander systems are also easy to setup. Select a template for the number of cameras used, capture the robotic camera’s preset positions, enter names for lower-third graphics and any clips, and start producing. After broadcasting and streaming, finished productions can automatically upload for viewing on an included BPNet™ cloud portal. “The most rapidly growing area of multi-camera live production is in corporate, government, school, church and other organizations,” said Kevin Prince, CEO of Broadcast Pix. “Until today, the choice was between powerful systems that required an expert to run and simple systems that created boring productions. Commander is a breakthrough that simplifies the production process with a touchscreen interface, so everyone can create a great live video. This also results in dramatic savings in the cost of operation.”

Commander systems are turnkey solutions that only require cameras, audio, and any size touchscreen monitor. All systems accept SDI, IP, and HDMI inputs, and provide switching, robotic camera control, CG, clip player, recording, streaming, and BPNet cloud integration. The Commander 4 supports up to four cameras, Commander 6 supports up to six cameras, and the Commander Portable includes an integrated touchscreen. Commander systems will be available Dec. 14 with prices starting at $9,995. While Commander is feature-rich without any modifications, Broadcast Pix offers options to enhance workflow. The BPCommand toolkit option enables users to customize the Commander layout to include more camera presets, graphics, and clips. BPNet options allow the creation of graphics from a remote office or via auto-entry from a database. The BPNet cloud portal system offers advantages over posting finished productions to a site like YouTube. BPNet allows branding and organization of the cloud portal, which can be open for public viewing or restricted to specific users. Videos from other content providers do not appear. Productions can automatically upload and be released for viewing with BPNet remote management. Plus, BPNet allows media to be added from mobile devices and streamlines multi-system operation.

In addition to the new Commander systems, Broadcast Pix has also announced the Commander Interface Option for new and existing Broadcast Pix switchers. With it, larger installations of up to 22 cameras can take advantage of Commander’s touchscreen interface, and systems can support both non-technical operators on a touchscreen as well as traditional operators on a control panel. The Commander Interface Option will also be available for download on Dec. 14.

Mornings hold the key to taking control of our schedules.

If we use mornings wisely, we can build habits that will allow us to lead happier, more productive lives. While many of us are still in bed, some folks are scoring daily victories to improve their health, careers, and personal lives without sacrificing their sanity.Every successful man in this world understands the importance of time. This is the only reason they get up early. Once they are up early, they have a few extra hours to contemplate before the day begins.Drawing on real-life anecdotes and scientific research that shows why the early hours of the day are so important, Laura Vanderkam reveals how successful people use mornings to help them accomplish things that are often impossible to take care of later in the day.

What the Most Successful People Do before Breakfast is a fun and practical guide that will inspire you to rethink your morning routine and jump-start your life before the day has even begun. Laura poled 20 executives, in which 90% said that “getting up before 6 am is good.” They even told what their priorities are after they get up.

Let’s look at how they start their morning and what most of the successful people of the world do first after they get up.

Jack Ma- Founder, Alibaba Group

I always tell myself that we are born here not to work, but to enjoy life. We are here to make things better for one another, and not to work. If you are spending your whole life working, you will certainly regret it.

This sentiment lies at the heart of Jack Ma’s lifestyle. That is why; he gets up early around 6 to 7 am and utilizes every single second by enjoying it. He does work for half an hour and then spends time with family.

Jeff Bezos- CEO, Amazon
His deep focus on customer service has become legendary, but if you think Jeff Bezos is a workaholic, think again. The CEO places a high priority on a good night's sleep, even when deadlines loom and pressure is high. So he has no definite time but generally wakes up early and sleeps early.

Tim Cook, CEO, Apple
Tim Cook is known for sending out company emails at 4.30 in the morning, according to Gawker's Ryan Tate. By 5 am, he can be found in the gym. And he works late too, priding himself on being the first in the office and the last out.

Jack Dorsey- Co-Founder, Twitter
Jack Dorsey put’s his shoulder to the wheel at 5.30 am. He meditates and then jogs for five miles.

Richard Branson- Founder, Virgin Group
Richard Branson swims on his island early in the morning. After that, he goes to play tennis and then has a healthy breakfast.

Warren Buffett- CEO, Berkshire Hathaway
Warren Buffett gets up in the morning by 6.45 am and reads six newspapers. But otherwise, he does not have any fixed schedule. He spends 80% of his time reading.

Ratan Tata- Chairman Emeritus, Tata Sons
Routinely, Ratan Tata attends the meetings of various companies of TATA Sons starting from 6 am, and in the weekends he either drives his cars or his own Falcon private jet early in the morning.

Mukesh Ambani- Chairman, Reliance Industries Limited
Mukesh Ambani wakes up between 5 and 5.30 am every morning. He works out in the gym located on the second floor of Antilia. This also includes swimming followed by reading a couple of news papers.
Oprah Winfrey- Actress, Host and Author
Oprah’s day starts with a 20-minute meditation session for keeping her mind at peace. Thereafter, she exercises in her gym.

Indra Nooyi- CEO, PepsiCo
Waking up with (or before) the sun, allows executives like General Motors’ Mary Barra and Pepsi's Indra Nooyi to get a head start, knocking out tasks before the rest of the world has rolled out of bed.

Padmasree Warrior- CEO NextEV, U.S.
Though she doesn't run straight to the office after waking up at 4.30 am, Warrior spends an hour on email, reads the news, and works out. And she is still in the office by 8.30 am at the latest, according to Yahoo Finance.

It's complex and interesting and exciting.

Bob Iger- CEO, Disney
Bob Iger told The New York Times that he gets up at 4.30 every morning. He takes the quiet time to do a number of things, claiming to read the papers, exercise, listen to music, look at email, and watch TV all at once. Even though it's a quiet time, he's "already multitasking."

INFORMATION REGARDING PENSION DISBURSEMENT

$

0
Can a pension account be opened in any branch of any bank?
No, a pension account cannot be opened in any branch of any bank. There is a list of public sector and private sector banks in each State in which a pension account may be opened. For latest information about the list please visit the website of Central Pension Accounting Office, www.cpao.nic.in.
Is the payment of pension in cash or through a joint account with or without "EITHER or SURVIVOR" facility permitted in the Scheme for Payment of Pension to Central Government Civil Pensioners by Public Sector Banks?
Payment of pension in cash is not permitted in the scheme. However, the pension payment is now permitted to be credited to a joint account operated by the pensioner with his/her spouse (either by ‘Former or Survivor’ or ‘Either or Survivor’ basis) in whose favour an authorization exists in the Pension Payment Order, subject to certain terms and conditions.
Paying branch may also credit the amount of pension in his or her joint account operated by pensioner with his/her spouse in whose favour an authorization for family pension exists in the Pension Payment Order (PPO). The joint account of the pensioners with the spouse could be operated either by 'Former or Survivor' or 'Either or Survivor' basis subject to the following conditions :-
(a) Once pension has been credited to a pensioner's bank account, the liability of the Government/Bank ceases. No further liability arises, even if the spouse wrongly draws from the account.
(b) As pension is payable only during the life of a pensioner, his/her death shall be intimated to the bank at the earliest and in any case within one month of the demise, so that the bank does not continue crediting monthly pension to the joint account with the spouse, after the death of the pensioner. If however, any amount has been wrongly credited to the joint account, it shall be recoverable from the joint account and/or any other account held by the pensioners/spouse either individually or jointly. The legal heirs, successors, executors etc. shall also be liable to refund any amount, which has been wrongly credited to the joint account.
(c) Payment of Arrears of Pension (Nomination) Rules 1983 would continue to be applicable to a joint account with Pensioner's spouse. This implies that if there is an 'accepted nomination' in accordance with Rules 5 and 6 of these Rules, arrears mentioned in the Rules shall be payable to the nominee.
Existing pensioners desiring to get their pension credited to a joint account as indicated above are required to submit an application to the branch bank, from where they are presently drawing pension in the prescribed form that is i.e. Annexure XXIX of Scheme Booklet of Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO). This would also be signed by the pensioner's spouse.
Can Income Tax be deducted at source be made from pension payments ?
Yes, the paying branch will be responsible for deduction of Income Tax at source from pension payments in accordance with the rates prescribed from time to time. While deducting such tax from pension payments the paying branch will also allow deduction on account of relief available under Income Tax Act from time to time on production of proper and acceptable evidence of eligible savings by pensioners. The paying branch will also issue the pensioner in April each year a certificate of tax deducted in the form prescribed in the Income Tax Rules
Can the excess payment, if any, credited to the pensioner’s account be recovered by the bank?
Before commencing payment of pension, the paying branch is required to obtain an undertaking in the prescribed form Annexure-XI of the Scheme from the pensioner. On the strength of this undertaking the excess payment, if any, credited to his/her account can be recovered by the paying branch.
What is to be done if a pensioner/family pensioner desires to get his pension payment account transferred?
 (1)Application for transfer of pensions may fall under the following two categories;
(i) transfer from one paying branch to another of the same Authorised Bank (AB) within the same station or at a different station; (ii) transfer from one AB to another AB
(2)The pensioner/family pensioner may make request falling under both the categories above to either of the Branches. The paying branch will forward the request along with the disburser’s part of PPO, where applicable, to its CPPC for necessary action. Before forwarding the disburser’s portion of PPO to the new paying branch/CPPC, it will be ensured that the month upto which the payment has been made is invariably indicated in the disburser’s portion of PPO. The receiving CPPC on receipt of the pension documents will ensure forwarding the PPO to the paying branch if it is for the same AB or to the concerned CPPC if for a different AB within three days and intimate the facts to the pensioner simultaneously. Necessary intimation of effecting such transfer will be sent to CPAO by the new as well as old CPPCs in the form as at Annexure XXI (page-49 Scheme Booklet) as well as the escroll  for keeping a note of change in their records.
(b)  The new paying branch will commence the pension payment immediately on  receipt of letter of the last payment certificate as above. Simultaneously, it will send an intimation to CPPC with full details of the commencement of the pension.
(c)  Pension will be paid for three months on the basis of the photocopy of the pensioner’s PPO at transferee (New) branch, from the date of last date of payment made at the transferor (Old) branch. During this time, it will be the joint responsibility of both transferor (old) and transferee (New) bank branches to ensure that all the documents under the procedure, are received by the CPPC within the period of three months.
(3)To avoid the risk of overpayment at the time of transfer, the following certificate is required to be recorded on the Disburser’s portion of PPO by the paying branch of the AB:
“Certified that payment of pension has been made up to the month __________and that this PPO consists of __________continuation sheets for recording disbursement."
(4)Except as provided above, the transfer of a pension account from one payment point  to another will not ordinarily be permitted.
What is the procedure for switchover of pension payment from Pay & Accounts Office or treasury to Public Sector Bank ?
(1) The applications for switch-over to authorised banks by the existing pensioners will be made in the Form as given in Annexure IX of Scheme Booklet in duplicate to the Pension Disbursing Authority.
(2) The pensioners should first draw pension which has already fallen due, before applying for transfer of their pension papers to the Authorised Banks.
(3) Transfer applications in duplicate shall be forwarded immediately by the Pension Disbursing Authority along with the disburser's copy of the PPO halves, duly authenticated and written up-to-date to the CPAO for transmission to CPPC of the AB for arranging payment after keeping necessary note in their records. Action will also be taken by Pension Disbursing Authority to update the entries of payment made in the pensioner’s portion of the PPOs, if not already done, before the transfer application is sent to the CPAO.
(4)  If a PPO (disburser's portion) has got torn or mutilated, it will be renewed by the CPAO with the help of PAO, if necessary, before sending it to the CPPC.

Technology Updates - .RADIO TOP LEVEL DOMAIN NAME READY FOR LAUNCH

$
0
0
2017 is a big year for radio. The EBU is launching a new Top Level Domain (TLD) name - .radio – for the radio community which will progressively change the way people are reaching internet resources linked to radio..radio can be used for web and email addresses and will be managed by the EBU with the support of the other world broadcasting unions.
For four years the EBU and its partners have been preparing the launch of .radio. The project was endorsed by all the leading radio organizations in the world (including ABU, AER, AIB, AMARC, ASBU, AUB, CBU, EGTA, IAB, NABA, OTI, and URTI). Exceptionally for the internet world, this project is a Community TLD, run for the benefit of the whole radio industry and amateur enthusiast and reserved for people and companies with active interest in the radio sector. "We are proposing that the radio community may like to consider securing the integrity of their web presence by requesting appropriate .radio domains for defensive reasons initially,” says the EBU’s .radio TLD Manager Alain Artero. “The TLD will be focused on content and matters specific to radio and we want to prevent speculators and cybersquatting in this TLD; this extension will therefore rapidly become a high-value internet space for websites, mail systems and other internet applications.”

The following categories will be accepted for the use of a .radio domain:
Radio broadcasting stations
Unions of Broadcasters
Internet radios
Radio Amateurs
Radio professionals (journalists, radio hosts, DJs, …)
Radio-related companies selling radio goods and services

The forecast timeline (which is subject to change) is as follows:

DETAILS OF THE PRE-LAUNCH AND LAUNCH
Managers of radio stations should request a .radio domain(s) during the pre-launch. The EBU believes radio stations should be the focus of this new space on the internet, and consider them as our highest priority. We are therefore working with ICANN* to provide radio station operators with a pre-launch specific phase, starting 3 May 2017 and strictly ending on 5 July, because this will grant priority over all other categories (even trademarks) for a period of 60 days. If, for instance, a radio station and a web radio request the same domain, the radio station will be allowed to purchase it (providing it resembles the station name). During this pre-launch phase, the process is not ‘first come, first served’. The .radio team will seek to optimize domain name allocation to solve contentious issues and prioritize existing radio services. The pre-launch is exclusively reserved for radio stations. All other categories of applications from the sector will be managed during the launch period within a similar period of 60 days.

HOW TO REQUEST DOMAIN NAMES
To request a .radio domain, interested parties should contact a registrar (company selling internet domains) providing it has signed an agreement to sell .radio domains or the EBU directly which will act as a reseller. At any time, an owner of a domain can transfer it from a registrar to another.
PRICE
The price for registering a .radio domain name will be different for companies and individuals. It will depend on the registrar offering the product, since registrars themselves define their price and their marketing policy. It also depends whether some additional services are included in the yearly fee (like hosting, mailing). For companies, we expect typical prices between 200€ and 250€ per domain each year. For individuals, the price will be much lower.
*ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) is the private (non-government) non-profit corporation with responsibility for IP address space allocation and domain name system management. ICANN’s role is to oversee the huge and complex interconnected network of unique identifiers that allow computers on the Internet to find one another.

Inspiration-Bamboo’s Boon: This Entrepreneur’s Mission Is to Reduce Plastic Waste & Make Farmers Independent!

Agricultural entrepreneur Yogesh Shinde is trying to reduce the use of plastic by manufacturing and promoting bamboo products through his venture Bamboo India.

“Plastic toothbrushes are the second largest plastic waste generated after plastic bags. Just in India, more than 150 million plastic toothbrushes are thrown into the garbage every month. Every part of the toothbrush – the handle, as well as the bristles – is made from petroleum-based plastic, which does not biodegrade for thousands of years. So, all the plastic toothbrushes made since 1938, when they were made for the first time, still exist somewhere on this planet.”

Yogesh is an agricultural entrepreneur who started Bamboo India, a company that makes bamboo-based eco-friendly products. The company has engaged farmers from the village Velhe, near Pune in Maharashtra, to manufacture products like toothbrushes, speakers, clothing pegs, desk organizers, utility stands and sky lanterns from bamboo. Although the company has informally been active for over two years now, Bamboo India set up their official online store only recently, in June 2016. Since then, the company has completed over 2,000 orders and has had a turnover of over Rs. 50 lakh, according to Yogesh.

“It’s still a very nascent company, but we have made a good start. 2,000 orders don’t exactly equate to 2000 products sold. For example, one of our clients was the company ToothBox based in Hyderabad. They had ordered 3,000 toothbrushes from us and that was just one order,” he says.

Born and brought up in an urban middle class family in Pune, Yogesh had no connection to agriculture. After completing his Masters from the University of Pune, he joined the IT industry and became settled in the comfortable lifestyle of an IT professional.

The change happened when he travelled to Europe and stayed at different places in the continent over a span of four years. During his stay, he came across a very different picture of farmers – independent, financially well-off and happy. He had never witnessed farmers like this in his own country.
“I came back to India eventually, but that wonder remained rooted in my mind. I remember feeling that something needed to be done for our farmers after I had seen that farmers could be rich and happy. Eventually, I bought a farm house near Velhe.
After thorough research, and advice from Hemant Bedekar, a Pune-based septuagenarian who conducts research on bamboo, Yogesh came to the conclusion that making bamboo products could be the best entrepreneurial option for the farmers in the villages of Velhe, Bhor, Panshet, and Mulshi, all adjacent to Pune.

“It is true that more people are becoming aware and are asking for alternatives. But the fact remains that there’s a huge difference in the prices of plastic products and bamboo products. While a bamboo toothbrush costs Rs. 100, a plastic toothbrush can cost as low as Rs. 20. Many toothpaste companies give free toothbrushes nowadays. Naturally, it’s hard to compete with that kind of pricing,” says Yogesh.

“Bamboo is a strong, environment-friendly, sustainable and renewable material. There’s so much that we can do with bamboo. This is just the beginning. My mission is to help reduce plastic waste in the world. The more bamboo products I sell, the less there’s plastic waste. So our pledge is to reduce one million kilogrammes of plastic waste from being generated in the world by the end of 2017. I know it sounds ambitious but my team and I are hopeful, as well as determined,” he concludes.

1)Who is to authorize payment of family pension and death gratuity when a Govt. servant dies while on deputation ?
In the case of a Govt. servant who dies while on deputation to another Central Govt. Deptt., action to authorize family pension and death gratuity in accordance with the provisions of chapter IX of the pension Rules shall be taken by his Head of Office of the borrowing department. In the case of a Govt. servant who dies while on deputation to a State Govt. or while on Foreign Service, action to authorize the payments of family pension and death gratuity in accordance with the provisions of Chapter IX of the pension Rules shall be taken by the Head of Office or the cadre authority which sanctioned the deputation of the Govt. servant to the State Govt. or to his Foreign Service.
2)When does a family member become eligible for the grant of family pension?
Normally, the amount of family pension is sanctioned and authorized at the same time as pension and indicated in the Pension Payment Order and is to be drawn after the death of the pensioner. In case of Govt. servant dying while in service, the widow or widower has to make a claim in Form 14 to the Head of Office who will sanction and authorize the family pension through its Pay & Accounts Officer. Where the deceased Govt. servant is survived only by a child or children, the guardian (in case of minor and/or mentally disabled child/children) or such child or children may submit a claim in Form 14, along with all relevant information/certificates, to the Head of Office for sanction and authorization of family pension.
In the case of death of a pensioner, the deceased pensioner's wife or a disabled child or dependent parents or a disabled sibling should apply in Form No. 14 along with a copy of the death certificate of the deceased pensioner to the Pension Disbursing Authority. Where the pensioner and spouse held a joint account, Form 14 is not required and the spouse may inform the Bank of death of the pensioner by way of a simple letter enclosing a copy of death certificate.  The paying bank will identify the spouse based on the information given in the PPO and its own “Know Your Customer” procedures.  In other cases, i.e., where the pension is not being credited to the joint bank account of the pensioner and his/her spouse, the spouse is still required to submit Form 14 to the pension disbursing bank. However, the condition of attestation of Form 14 has been done away with and giving witness of two persons has been considered as sufficient. The other children will apply to the Head of Office for sanction of family pension.
3)Family pension is payable up to which period and in which order of members of family?    Family pension is payable to one member of the family at a time in the order and for the  period as under:
 a) In the case of a widow or widower, up to the date of death or remarriage, whichever is earlier. Family Pension shall continue to be payable to a childless widow after her re-marriage if her income from all other sources is less than the amount of minimum family pension and the dearness relief thereon.
 b) When widow or widower becomes ineligible, children below 25 years of age in the order of their age, up to 25 years of age or till they get married or till they start earning more than the amount of minimum family pension along with dearness allowance thereon.
 c) After (a) & (b) above; for the lifetime to any son/daughter who is suffering from any disorder or disability of mind (including mentally retarded) or physically crippled or disabled and who is unable to earn a living.
 d) If no spouse/children below 25 years of age/disabled children above 25 years of age are eligible for family pension, it may be granted to unmarried/widowed/divorced daughters above the age of 25 years in the order of seniority of their age.
 e) Thereafter, family pension may be paid to the parents who were wholly dependent on the Govt. servant when he/she was alive.
 f)  Disabled siblings (i.e. brother and sister) who were dependent on the Government servant immediately before the death of the Government Servant, for life.
4)Is family pension payable to more than one person at a time?
Normally, the family pension is payable to one eligible member at a time. However, in certain specific cases, the family pension is divided among eligible members of the family. The family pension will be paid in equal shares where the deceased Govt. servant or pensioner is survived by –
a) More than one widow (except in the case of Hindu widow or where polygamy/polyandry is not allowed).
b) A widow and an eligible child through another widow which she would have received had she been alive.
c) A widow and an eligible child from a divorced/illegally wedded wife; the child will be entitled to the share of family pension which the mother would have received had she not been divorced/ had she been legally wedded.
d) Twin, triplet or quadruplet children.
In all the above cases, on the death of one recipient, his/her share of the family pension shall become payable to other member(s) of family who was/were sharing family pension with him/her.
5)How is the family pension payable to twin children?
As in reply to Q. No.(4)
6)Is family pension payable to a spouse judicially separated?

8)Is the family pension admissible to parents; widowed/divorced/unmarried daughters?
As in reply to Q.No (2) & Q.No (3)
9)What is enhanced family pension and for what  period it is payable?
Ordinarily, family pension is paid @ 30% of the pay last drawn by the Government at the time of his retirement/death. However, in the following three cases, family pension is payable at the enhanced rate of 50% of the last pay drawn:
a)      From 1.1.2006, where a person not governed by the Workmen’s Compensation Act dies while in service after rendering not less than seven years continuous service, the rate of family pension shall be equal to 50% of last pay drawn from the date of death of deceased Government Servant, payable for a period of ten years.
 b)      In case a Government servant had died while in service after 1.1.1999 and  before 1.1.2006 and his/her family was being granted family pension at enhanced rates, i.e., period of 7 years of enhanced rate had not been completed on 1.1.2006, the family pension will be allowed to be paid till the completion of the period of 10 years from the date of date of the Government servant.
 c)      In the event of death of Government Servant after retirement, the enhanced family pension shall be payable for a period of seven years or for a period up to the date the deceased would have attained the age of 67 years, whichever is earlier. In no case the amount of family pension exceed the pension authorised on retirement from Government.
After the lapse of the period of 10 or 7 years, as the case may be, the family pension is payable at the ordinary rate.
10)Is family pension available to a widow/widower after remarriage ?
Family pension to widow/widower is discontinued on re-marriage.  However, Family pension has now been made available even after remarriage to childless widow of the deceased employee subject to her earnings not exceeding the prescribed minimum family pension with DR. Family pension is not available to a childless widower after his remarriage.
11)Whether the period of 10 years for payment of enhanced family pension would also apply in the case of a Government servant who died before 1.1.2006 and in respect of whom the family was receiving enhanced family pension as on 1.1.2006 ?.
Yes. The period of 10 years for payment of enhanced family pension will count from the date of death of the Government servant. These orders will, however, not apply in a case where the period of 7 years for payment of enhanced family pension has already completed as on 1.1.2006.
