Inspiration - Her Passion for Water Sports cured her Asthma.

Tanvi Jagadish, this 17-year old girl from Mangalore is India’s 1st Professional Female Surfer and Stand-Up Paddler. Coming from a place where girls are not encouraged to wear shorts and neither are they allowed to participate in water sports, Tanvi never gave up! She stood to her passion which made her the successful young surfer and stand-up paddler representing India in National and International surfing arenas.

Born in Mangalore, Tanvi never thought that she could become a water sports athlete because of her asthma problem. Tanvi Jagadish was introduced to water when she was eight years old. Now, the water became her playground and her career. Initially, her parents didn’t encourage her because of her asthma problem. But soon they realized that they shouldn’t be the one who judges their child’s life. To their surprise, the salt water and her sport cured her asthma problem. Tanvi then joined the Mantra Surfing Club in Mangalore, one of the few organizations offering training and opportunities for young people in water sports in India. She started training and has been participating in several competitions to improve her skills and her career.

Tanvi’s life changed when she met April Zilg, a Stand-Up Paddler from the northern California in the American SUP circuit in her visit to promote SUP in India. With her 1st victory in 2014 in the Indian surfing and SUP, she made her 1st step into her desired profession, and this triumph made her achieve greater heights in the water sport.

Tanvi Jagadish is now studying at the Sharadha Pre-University College in Mangalore. She became successful in her career because of her determination, courage, stubborn nature and moreover, she broke the social stereotypes and achieved her passion with guts which made her the Indian’s 1st Professional SUP racer and surfer.

Life, like surfing, is all about wave selection and balance. So, never let the best waves in your life go by. Remember the fact that, the harder you work for something, the greater you will feel when you finally achieve it.

Shri D Dhanraj has joined as MTS on 14.05.1992 at HPT, AIR, Avadi, Chennai. He was transferred to AIR, Chennai in the year 1994. During his service period, he has served in various sections like GA, Cash, Duty Room, Programme, Accounts and Marketing. He worked under various Officers namely, DDG/Deputy Director/SAO etc. After 24 years of service, he has opted for VRS and is retiring today (i.e.) 31.08.2018. A very sincere, dedicated and hard working personnel.

Smt. D Sivagamasundari was initially appointed as Lower Division Clerk in the Office the Superintending Engineer (Civil), Civil Construction Wing, All India Radio & Doordarshan, Chennai on 23.06.1984. She got promoted as Upper Division Clerk to the Office of All India Radio, Chennai on 08.06.2001. During her service, she has served in various Programme sections viz. Classical Music, FM Rainbow, Co-ordination, Tamil Talks, Audition, Folk Music, Feature, Talks English, Hindi, Sanskrit, EBM, Malayalam, Kannada, Salaram, Manasellam Kanavu, Western Music, Library (Screening Report), Thirai Thendral and carried out satisfactorily the duties like Maintenance of Frequency Register (Cl. Music), Maintaining of Index Cards of Guests, Typing Contracts, Maintenance of Files & Registers and taken care of Payment position of artists.
A very sincere, dedicated and hard working personnel retiring from service after successfully completing more than 34 years of service.

10 KW FM transmitter of AIR (101 MHz) inaugurated at Patnitop in J&K

The Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (I/C), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh today inaugurated 10KW transmitter of All India Radio at Patnitop in Ramban District of Jammu & Kashmir, that will provide services to people living in a radius of around 60 km (aerial) in various districts.

While inaugurating the FM transmitter Dr Singh said that with the commissioning of the relay transmitter at Patnitop, the high reaches and remote areas of the State in various districts like Ramban, Doda, Udhampur, Anantnag and parts of Jammu would now be able to listen to the radio for entertainment and information more clearly. He further said that the commissioning of the relay transmitter had fulfilled the long pending demand of the local people. Shri Neelam Langeh , MLA Ramban and Director General , All India Radio Shri Fayyaz Sheheryar were also present on the occasion. While appreciating All India Radio for coming upto the expectations of the people in the era of tough challenges and competitions from private TV channels, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that AIR can play a key role in countering the malicious and fake propaganda being unleashed by some anti-national elements and mischief mongers . While addressing the audience, Dr Singh said that in the era of social media where misinformation spreads quickly, the credibility and trustworthiness of AIR serves as an alternative yet accurate source of information for the audience. The medium is prompt, credible and instantaneous and has continued to remain so despite the fast changing media landscape.

Dr Singh, while referring to radio as a medium for information as well as entertainment said that the medium is still relevant and its reach is greater than other types of media. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it engages us even while not disengaging us from the work we are doing. The medium, its use and applications have changed over time, but it continues to remain relevant. Citing example, Dr Singh said that the use of the radio for education (Tele-education) has opened new niche for the applicability of the medium in the modern digital age.

While highlighting the important role played by the public broadcaster towards the socio-economic development of the country, Dr Singh said that the FM Transmitter would provide people access to information related to developmental initiatives of the Government and will open a new chapter in the developmental journey of the region. The Union Minister said that now the people living in remote and mountainous areas of the J&K State would be able to listen to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' programme and will also be able to know about various developmental programmes and welfare schemes launched by the Government.

MLA Ramban while expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of the district for the installation of the FM transmitter at Patnitop said that it was a historic development for the physical as well as emotional connectivity of the remote areas of the district. Earlier in his address, Director General, All India Radio, Shri Fayyaz Sheheryar said that the installation of the 10 KW FM transmitter at Patnitop was a landmark achievement for reaching out to the people in remote areas of the state by the public broadcaster. He expressed the hope that the Station at Udhampur would be commissioned before the end of current year and ensured that steps would be taken for augmenting the reach of the public broadcaster in difficult areas of the state.

The 10KW transmitter will help cover an ariel distance of 60 km in nearby districts of Doda, Ramban, Udhampur and parts of Jammu. It wil be available in the frequency of 101 MHz. It will provide services in districts of Ramban, Doda, Udhampur, Anantnag and parts of Jammu and will also be heard across the border especially in and around Sialkot.

नहीं रहे आकाशवाणी -दूरदर्शन के कालजयी पुरोधा डा.उदयभान मिश्र !

अत्यंत दुखद समाचार मिला है।कल (3सितंबर )देर रात में आकाशवाणी दूरदर्शन के पुरोधा 81वर्षीय डा.उदयभान मिश्र का उनके गांव बसावनपुर,बड़हलगंज, गोरखपुर में निधन हो गया । वे कुछ दिनों गोरखपुर और फिर बड़हलगंज के नर्सिंग होम में भर्ती रहकर स्वास्थ्य लाभ लेकर अभी पिछले सप्ताह गांव लौटे थे।15फरवरी 1937 को गोरखपुर के उप नगर बड़हलगंज के एक गांव बसावनपुर में जन्मे डा० मिश्र ने 1975 में भारत सरकार की प्रकाशन विभाग की पत्रिका "आजकल"के सम्पादकीय को छोड़ कर 2अप्रैल 1975 को आकाशवाणी दिल्ली में बतौर कार्यक्रम अधिकारी नौकरी संभाली । उसके बाद पदोन्नति पाते हुए गोरखपुर, दिल्ली, उदयपुर, लखनऊ आदि के आकाशवाणी और दूरदर्शन केंद्रों पर निदेशक के रूप में अपनी सेवाएँ दीं ।28फरवरी 1995 को आकाशवाणी गोरखपुर से वे 31 साल की सेवा के बाद केन्द्र निदेशक पद से सेवानिवृत्त हुए । स्वभाव से सैनिक और लेखनी से श्रमजीवी के रूप में अपनी शुरूआती पहचान बनाने वाले डा० मिश्र ने रिटायरमेंट के बाद भी समाज को अपनी ऊर्जावान साहित्यिक सेवाएं देते रहे ।गोरखपुर में स्थाई रूप से रहते हुए उन्होंने कविता, कहानियाँ, ऊपन्यास, यात्रा वृतांत, आलोचना सम्बन्धित लगभग दो दर्जन पुस्तकें लिखीं। लेखन में चमत्कृत कर देने वाली उनकी भाषा शैली और उनका ओजपूर्ण संवाद किसी को भी उनकी ओर सहज ही सम्मोहित कर लेती है । आकाशवाणी और दूरदर्शन में रहते हुए अनेक ख्याति लब्ध कार्यक्रम देनेवाले इन महान पुरोधा से अन्य लोगों के साथ इस ब्लॉग रिपोर्टर को अपनी सेवाकाल और बाद की अवधि में उनसे बहुत कुछ सीखने को मिला है ।

ऐसी कालजयी विभूति के निधन पर प्रसार भारती परिवार अपनी श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित कर रहा है।
प्रसार भारती परिवार प्रार्थना करता है की ईश्वर उनके आत्मा को शांति दे और उनके शोकाकुल परिवार को इस संकट की घडी को सामना करने की शक्ति प्रदान करे।

Smt. Shaila M Baby joined AIR, Dharwad in the year 1984 as Engineering Assistant. Later on, she was promoted as Sr. Engg. Assistant and posted at DDK, Thiruvananthapura. In the year 2001, she was promoted as Asst. Engineer and posted to PGF, Thrissur. Finally, she got promotion as Asst. Director (Engg.) at AIR, Chennai. During her service period, she has served in various Stations like LPT, Palakkad, DDK, Inspection Cell in Bharat Electronics, Bangalore, SPT, AIR, Bangalore and LPT, Kuppam.

A very sincere, dedicated and hard working personnel. After put in 34 years of service, she has opted for VRS and is retired on 31.08.2018.

5 सितंबर : प्रसार भारती परिवार के शहीद पुत्र लेफ्टिनेंट यश आदित्य का बलिदान दिवस !

आकाशवाणी लखनऊ के सेवानिवृत्त कार्यक्रम अधिकारी और प्रसार भारती ब्लॉग के नियमित लेखक श्री प्रफुल्ल कुमार त्रिपाठी और उनकी पत्नी श्रीमती मीना त्रिपाठी के छोटे पुत्र लेफ्टिनेंट यश आदित्य (I.C.68122 H )का आज ही के दिन 5सितंबर 2007 को आन ड्यूटी निधन हुआ था ।अत्यंत मेधावी यश आदित्य ने हाई स्कूल एयरफोर्स स्कूल गोरखपुर में और इंटरमीडिएट सिटी मांटेसरी स्कूल महानगर लखनऊ में टाप किया था।एन.डी.ए.में प्रथम प्रयास में चयनित होकर भारतीय सेना में वर्ष 2006 में कमीशन पाया था ।उन्होंने भारतीय थल सेना की 7मैकेनाइज्ड इन्फैंट्री (1डोगरा) बटालियन को अल्पकालिक किन्तु महत्वपूर्ण सेवाएँ दीं और कर्तव्य पालन करते हुए मात्र 22 वर्ष की उम्र में अपने प्राणों की आहुति दे दी थी । भारत माता के इस सपूत के बलिदान से रौशन हो उठी थी पूरी कायनात !


परिजनों एवं शुभेच्छुओं ने इस अवसर पर लेफ्टिनेंट यश आदित्य स्मृति आवास पर रामचरित मानस के सुंदर कांड का सस्वर पाठ किया तथा दयानंद बाल सदन,मोतीनगर, लखनऊ में निराश्रित बच्चों को भोजन भी कराया।


आज उनके 11वेंं बलिदान दिवस पर उनकी अमर स्मृति को प्रसार भारती परिवार का अश्रुपूर्ण नमन !

There are not many people who can claim to be a Doctor, Lawyer, MBA, Ph.D., Youngest MLA, Painter, Photographer and many more at the same time. The late Congress politician, Shrikant Jichkar was one of them.

His list of degrees is not only impressive and most probably unachievable by normal people like us, but also earned him a place in the Limca Book of Records for being the “most qualified Indian”.

Most of his degrees were with First Merit and he also obtained many Gold Medals for his degrees.

He was also elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (1982–85) and Maharashtra Legislative Council (1986–92) and became the youngest MLA in the country at just 25.
After he wrote and got into the IPS in 1978, he resigned to write the IAS in 1980 and contested the general elections in Maharashtra in the same year.

Between 1973 – 1990, Jichkar sat for 42 University examinations that fell simultaneously every summer and winter and earned over 20 post-graduate degrees.
He eventually became a very powerful minister and held 14 portfolios at one time.

With such a vast a passion towards learning, it came as no surprise that Jichkar had one of the biggest personal libraries in all India with over 52,000 books.

He also became a member of Rajya Sabha from the year 1992-98.
Unfortunately, he was killed in a road accident in 2014, when his Mitsubishi Lancer rammed into an oncoming bus on NH6, 40 km off Nagpur.

He was just 51 when he died, but he left behind a legacy of knowledge and learning, something that no politically connected person in India has done so far.

AIR FM LRS Dharmapuri invited Smt.P.Nagajothi Editor of Yavarum Kelir a magazine for women, for the weekly live programme (Poovaiyar Neram) on 06/09/2018 from 9 am to 10 am. The guest hails from a humble family of five girl children brought up by her mother. She started her career at a very young in TITAN Watches, Hosur and rose to a level of starting an NGO and thereby providing skill training to girls at Hosur.
