Students demonstrate Sanskrit news reading skills on AIR
The students had attended a three-day training camp
As many as nine students from the district got a rare opportunity to prove their news reading skills in Sanskrit at a programme broadcast by the All India Radio (AIR) on Sunday.
The opportunity came their way, thanks to the three-day training camp in Sanskrit news reading for school children organised by Samprativartah (www.samprativartah.in), an online Sanskrit news portal promoted by Sanskrit teachers in Ernakulam, and the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).The students also shared their experience at the training camp.
More than 50 students studying in Standards IV to VII at schools across the district attended the camp. “We are planning to launch a weekly news programme on the portal with these trained students as news readers.
Telecast on Monday
The news package is likely to be telecast on Monday, starting next week,” said O.S. Harikumar, a Sanskrit teacher at St. Mary’s UP School, Thevara, and member of the SSA’s Sanskrit Research Group that founded the online portal.
The response to the camp was so encouraging that the organisers are planning to conduct more such events in other districts.
Even during the camp held in Kochi, the organisers received a number of applications from other districts. “We limited the camp to students from Ernakulam district, mostly from government schools, owing to logistical issues,” Mr. Harikumar added. The camp also witnessed the release of a Sanskrit logo for the SSA designed by a Sanskrit teacher associated with Samprativartah. Mr. Harikumar said the logo, featuring messages on education, would be extensively used by the SSA for its Sanskrit-based projects across the country, he added.

Veteran Harmonium Artist Padmshri Pandit Tulshidas Borkar recorded at AIR Panjim
Tulshidas Borkar (born 18 November 1934, in Borim, Goa) is an Indian musician, known for playing harmonium solo and his syle of accompanying in Hindustani rag sangeet and allied forms. The Government of India awarded him the civilian honour of thePadma Shri in 2016.
Pandit Tulsidas Borkar has been acclaimed as one of the finest harmonium players today in
Hindustani Classical Music. Panditji excels both as a soloist as well as an accompanist.
He took initial lessons from his mother Smt. Jayshreebai Borkar and Shri. Vishnupant Vasta, a renowned harmonium player of the times. He also received guidance from Swararaj, Shri Chhota Gandharva in the art of harmonium accompaniment. Later, under Shri. Madhukar Pednekar, he had an opportunity to further his ambition of mastering harmonium.
Initially Pt. Borkar earned a reputation as an Organ player and an accompanist for Marathi stage music. He was then associated with several classical musicians, among them Pt. S.C.R.
Bhatt, Pt. K.G. Ginde and Pt. Devendra Murdheshwar, from whom he learned the intricacies of Hindustani Classical Music. As a harmonium accompanist he has performed with many vocalists. Veterans such as Pt. Ram Marathe, Smt. Padmavati Gokhale-Shaligram, Pt. Mallikarjun Mansoor and Pt. Bhimsen Joshi as well as the stalwarts of this generation - Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty, Ustad Rashid Khan, Pt. Rajan & Sajan Mishra have all been very
appreciative of Pt. Borkar's accompaniment. Both as a soloist and accompanist, Panditji has performed in numerous prestigious music concerts and festivals in India and has toured the U.S., Europe, U.K., Indonesia, and the Gulf Countries. He has composed music for many musicals and recordings.
He has received many awards for his contribution to Hindustani Music including Govindrao Tembe Sangeetkar Puraskar and Keshavrao Date Puraskar. He continues the Guru-Shishya tradition by guiding and moulding many new harmonium players. His primary disciples include Shri Sudheer Nayak, Smt. Seema Mestri-Shirodkar and Dr. Kedar Naphade. The Government of India awarded him the civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 2016. All India Radio Panaji recorded his interview in Konkani for one and half hour on 9th May 2016.The interview was taken by Dr.Ajay Vaidya and Smt.Shakuntala Bharne Sr. Annocer of AIR Panaji.
In the interview Pt.Borkar narrated his journey from childhood when he was first taught the initial music notes to the moment of receiving the much coveted Padm shri award. He was the opinion that not only in music field, in any walk of life, there is no substitute for hard work and grit. He said, he always followed his Guru’s orders and instructions and whatever he is today, is because of his guru’s blessings and well wishers of the legends of the music world whom he accompanied on the harmonium. He finally applauded the contribution of AIR in the field of classical music and hoped that his interview would be documentation for future generation.
In his remark in the visitor’s book, he thanked Shri.C.S.Besekar,AD(P)/ Head of Station and all the staff of AIR for their warm welcome to AIR Panaji.

सूचना मिली है कि आकाशवाणी ग्वालियर के दो प्रसारण निष्पादकों सर्व श्री उत्कर्ष मिश्रा और सुश्री लेखा श्रोत्रिय भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा की परीक्षा में सफल हुए हैं। वरिष्ठ कार्यक्रम अधिकारी श्री यतीन्द्र चतुर्वेदी ने बताया है कि "श्रीलेखा की Prog. Production में गहरी रुचि थी ।जब भी मैं कोई रूपक या नाटक बनाता श्रीलेखा पूरे समय मेरे साथ ही रहती ।भीषण गर्मी में भी वो आग्रह करके मेरे मना करने पर भी मेरे साथ recording OB के लिए जाती। उसमें गजब की लगन और उत्साह मैने देखा है ।...मेरे पूछने पर श्रीलेखा ने अपने नाम का अर्थ बताया गणेश जी की लेखनी।"

Parliamentary Committee worried by slow pace of community radio growth
A Parliamentary Committee has expressed ‘concern’ that the information and broadcasting ministry was able to spend only Rs 1.90 crore for expanding and helping the community radio movement against an allocation of Rs 6.3 crore made in Budget Estimates (BE) for the year 2015-16. This amount was reduced to Rs 2.7 crore at the Revised Estimates (RE) stage.
The Standing Committee for Information Technology, which examines issues relating to I and B, noted that during 2015-16, the amount of Rs 75 lakh allocated to the North-East region was kept idle as no operational station or Letter of Intent holder from the North-East Region applied for financial assistance.
The ministry informed the Committee which comprises members of both Houses of Parliament, that grants to some Community Radio Stations which had submitted claim forms could not be released in the year 2015-16 due to shortfall of funds. Radioandmusic.com had reported in March that the ministry intends to -take the growth of community radio seriously henceforth.......

हमें जिन पर नाज़ है- आदरणीय सुरेश भारद्वाज
आकाशवाणी लखनऊ केन्द्र पर उत्तर प्रदेश के सूचना एवं जनसम्पर्क विभाग की यूनिट वर्ष - 1948 से ग्रामीण प्रसारण सेवा कार्य के लिये स्थापित की गयी ,जो वर्तमान में भी कार्यरत है,इसी बीच कोटा के बारां गाँव में 15 जनवरी 1920 को जन्मे और कोटा से ही स्नातकोत्तर उत्तीर्ण तथा आयुर्वेदाचार्य की परीक्षा पास करके श्री सुरेश भारद्वाज जी ने अपने आयुर्वेद चिकित्सक की सेवा को छोडकर अखिल आर्य प्रतिनिधि की सेवा में लखनऊ आये,यहाँ उनकी भेंट सूचना विभाग के श्री ठाकुर प्रसाद सिंह जी से हुई,समय था वर्ष 1962 का,आदरणीय सिंह साहब ने उन्हें उत्तर प्रदेश के सूचना एवं जनसम्पर्क विभाग में अपर डिविजन क्लर्क के रूप में नियुक्त करने का प्रस्ताव किया,तो श्री सुरेश जी ने कहा –आदरणीय मुझे तो लोअर डिविजन का काम भी नहीं आता है,अत: मुझे लोअर डिविजन में ही रखें उस समय सुरेश जी की लेखनी साफ़,सुन्दर और आकर्षक होने के साथ, सूचना एवं जनसम्पर्क विभाग के लिये उपयोगी भी थी |
इसी समय वर्ष 1962 में ही आकाशवाणी लखनऊ केन्द्र पर नियुक्त सहायक पर्यवेक्षक श्री कबीर शाह जी छुट्टी पर गये,और उनका काम देखने के लिये श्री सुरेश जी को भेजा गया,उनके आकाशवाणी आ जाने से उत्तर प्रदेश के सूचना एवं जनसम्पर्क विभाग की सम्पादकीय विभाग को असुविधा हुई किन्तु आकाशवाणी में उन्हें छोटे भईया का नाम मिल गया अब क्या था ,सुरेश जी आकाशवाणी के पर्याय बन गये,राजस्व अर्जन पर आधारित कार्यक्रम उद्योग साधना कार्यक्रम से उन्हें और भी प्रसिध्दी मिली ,अनेक गीत,नाटक,कहानी,संगीत रूपक,मुंशी प्रेमचन्द का धारावाहिक कार्यक्रम ,और उनके साथ काम करने वालों में बलदेव प्रसाद,रमई काका ,बाबा रामजी दास ,अब्दुल समद खान ,अम्बेश्वरी जी,के० पी०सक्सेना,नियामत अली ,छोटे के० के० मनोहर भईया यानी राम मनोहर त्रिपाठी के साथ करुणा शंकर दुबे और सद्धर्म सृजन निगम भी मुख्य रहे | श्री भारद्वाज जी नाटक के अनुमोदित कलाकार रहे,और 31 जनवरी 1988 को आकाशवाणी लखनऊ से सेवानिवृत्त हुए ,उनके अच्छे कार्यों को देखते हुये उन्हें वर्ष 1990 तक केन्द्र पर बनाये रखा गया ,उसके बाद भी वे अपने सेवा देते रहे आज लगभग 86 वर्ष की आयु में आयुर्वेद पर अच्छी जानकारी लोगो को देते रहते हैं और रेडियो के अच्छे श्रोता के रूप में भी सभी के लिये श्री सुरेश भरद्वाज आदरणीय है प्रसार भारती परिवार उनके स्वस्थ दीर्घायु की कामना करता हैं |

DRM transmitters replace 13 MW transmitters in border areas
A total of 35 medium wave transmitters have been replaced by Digital Radio Mondiale transmitters in the country.
Parliament was informed on Tuesday that these include 13 MW transmitters providing coverage to border areas.
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore said that some of the transmitters installed in our border districts may provide coverage to areas across the border.
DRM transmitters installed by All India Radio are capable of broadcast in analogue or digital or simulcast mode (both analogue and digital mode simultaneously).
Presently, these transmitters are functioning in simulcast mode (analogue and digital mode) and both types of listeners having analogue and digital DRM receivers are capable to receive AIR programmes broadcast from DRM transmitters, he added.

My Experience with DTT transmission during Flight Journey.....A.K. GUPTA, DY. DIRECTOR (ENGG) DDK Ahmedabad
I observed very good signal of DTT transmission in Flight during My tour to Delhi on 1/5/16 and also on return journey on 4/5/16The signal of DTT transmission from DDK Ahmedabad was available upto 140 Km from Ahmedabad in the flight; I recorded some clips of DD Girnar and DD news signal upto 8:15 AM, after the 20 mints of take off the Flight on 1/5/16.Similarly on return journey on 4/5/16, the signal of DTT transmission from DDK Ahmedabad was available upto approx 148 Km from Ahmedabad, in the flight.
One Interesting thing is that during passing over Jaipur to Kota, I retuned the my dongle on mobile phone, I observed the signal of DD Madhya Pradesh (a booke with DD MP,DD Kisan,DD News, DD sports,DD Bharti,DD National) at 4:55PMon 4/1/16 ,probably the signal is from DTT transmission of DDK Bhopal (aerial distance approx 250 KM).
The above observation is interesting and with the DTT, the DD channels may be available to passengers during their flight journey on the LCD screen in Aeroplane, The passenger on flight can also enjoy the live activity of ground.

कान्हा जी नहीं रहे...आकाशवाणी इन्दौर के लोकप्रिय प्रसारक श्री रामचंद्र मण्डलोई का निधन....
रेडियो के स्वर्णिम काल में आकाशवाणी इन्दौर के सितारा प्रसारक रही तिकडी के अंतिम सदस्य श्री रामचंद्र मण्डलोई यानि कि कान्हा जी भी विगत दिनों दुनिया छोड गए ।1960 से आकाशवाणी इन्दौर से निमाडी कम्पियर के रूप में जुडे कान्हा जी का वास्तविक नाम रामचंद्र मण्डलोई था इन्दौर से लगभग 150 किलोमीटर दूर ग्राम उन जिला खरगोन के निवासी मण्डलोई जी का वास्तविक नाम लगभग सभी लोग भूल चुके थे । सेैकड़ो निमाडी लोकोक्तियों, मुहावरे और कहावतें उन्हें मुंह ज़ुबानी याद थी । कान्हा जी हंसमुख एवं मिलनसार व्यक्तित्व के धनी थे आप अपना कार्यकाल पूर्ण कर 1992 में सेवानिवृत्त हुए कान्हा जी को 2014 में प्रकाशित आकाशवाणी इन्दौर के फोल्डर पर भी स्थान मिला था। कान्हा जी के नाम से तीन दशकों तक निमाड की गलियॉं शाम को गुलजार हुआ करती थी जब खेती गृहस्थी कार्यक्रम की शुरूआत हुआ करती थी । उस समय इस कार्यक्रम की मशहुर तिकडी नन्दा जी ,भैरा जी और काना जी हुआ करते थे....शाम 7 बजकर 20 मिनट के लगभग बैलों के गले में हिलती घंटियों की मधुर तान और पैरों में बजते घुंघरू की आवाज के साथ ......अरे भाई राम—राम हो नन्दा जी, राम राम हो भैराजी, राम—राम हो कान्हा जी का अभिवादन के बाद हिन्दी, मालवी और निमाडी बोली के समावेश के साथ कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत होती थी तो संपूर्ण मालवा—निमाड के ग्रामीण श्रोताओं में हर्ष का वातावरण हो जाता था और चौपाल पर रेडियो लगाकर कार्यक्रम सुनने की शुरूआत हो जाया करती थी । खेती के साथ घर बार की सामान्य जानकारियों के अलावा मालवी निमाडी लोकगीतों के साथ बडा ही सुहाना वातावरण होता था ।समय के साथ—साथ काल ने पहले भैराजी फिर नंदाजी और अब कानाजी को भी हम से छीन लिया है । इस नश्वर संसार में ये विभूतियॉं तो नहीं है लेकिन श्रोताओं के दिलों में इनकी यादें अमिट हैं ।
पिछले वर्ष मुम्बई ट्रांसफर होने के कुछ समय पूर्व मेरे आग्रह पर तत्कालीन कार्यक्रम प्रमुख श्री शशिकांत व्यास और कार्यक्रम प्रमुख द्वय श्री रमेश भार्गव और राजेश पाठक ने उनका साक्षात्कार रेकार्ड किया था जिसमें मैं स्वयं भी शामिल हुआ था । श्री शशिकांत व्यास जी ने कान्हा जी से भरपूर बात की । कान्हा जी थोडा कम सुनते थे तो उनके कानों में जोर की आवाज से प्रश्न करते हुए एक जीवंत साक्षात्कार हुआ जो अब शायद आकाशवाणी इन्दौर की ऐतिहासिक विरासत में शामिल हो गया होगा । 
उस समय जिस जोश और उमंग से उन्होने लगभग डांटते हुए हमें खाना खा कर जाने को मजबूर किया था और फिर जिस प्यार से दाल—बाटी खिलाई और खुद भी उपर से घी डालते हुए खायी और खिलाई उससे उनके 85 वर्ष के आस—पास होते हुए भी युवाओं वाला जोश नजर आ रहा था । जाते हुए खुद हमें मेन रोड तक छोडने आये और ये वादा भी ले लिया था कि जब भी इधर से गुजरोगे खाना घर ही खाओगे ।
विगत माह मुम्बई से इन्दौर बस से लौटते हुए जब खरगोन से गुजरे तो कान्हा जी की याद आयी सोचा था कि फिर से एक बार मिलने का प्लान करते हैं ।
पर अफसोस कि खरगोन में उन गांव भी है,कान्हा जी का घर भी है । वहॉं दाल बाटी भी मिल जायेगी लेकिन अफसोस कि अब दादाजी वाली प्यार भरी डांट से उस दाल—बाटी पर उपर से घी डालने वाले कान्हा जी नहीं मिल पायेंगे ।

Obituary - V Apparao former Controller of Programme, Doordarshan Hyderabad expires
Shri Vaddadi Apparao, former Controller of Programme, Doordarshan Hyderabad left for his heavenly abode on 11.05.2016 evening. He had an illustrious career at AIR and Doordarshan.
Shri Vaddadi Apparao had joined All India Radio in 1963. He worked at External Services Division from 1963 to 1972. He joined Doordarshan in 1972 as Programme Executive and was handling News and Current Affairs Programmes. He served in various Kendras of Doordarshan. He retired as Controller of Programmes from Doordarshan Kendra Hyderabad.
Shri Apparao was associated with the coverage of many prestigious events like Kumbh Mela at Allahbad in 1977, Asian Games at New Delhi in 1983 and Meeting of Commonwealth Heads at New Delhi in 1983.
In 2003, Indian Broadcast Forum honoured him with the PV Krishnamoorthy Special Award in recognition to the meritorious services rendered by him in the field of Television programming.
Prasar Bharati Parivar talked to the younger daughter of late Shri Vaddadi Apparao and offered it's sincere condolences.

Prasar Bharati and MIB will not follow the procurrement policies of private broadcasters.
The Information and Broadcasting Ministry or Prasar Bharati have no plans to follow the policies of private broadcasters in so far as procurement of equipment/finalization of tenders is concerned, Minister Arun Jaitley told Parliament.
Around 95 per cent of the Plan expenditure of Prasar Bharati currently involves technical equipment and the endeavour is to provide momentum to technical infrastructure projects, he said.
Answering a question in Parliament about Revised Estimates (REs), he said these are prepared to optimize utilization of allocated funds according to the progress of various projects and time schedule of supply of equipment/works.
Out of the REs during the last three years, reduction in RE during 2013-14 with reference to Budget Estimate (BE) of that year was marginal.
During 2014-15, reduction in RE was largely due to cancellation of tenders received on e-procurement portal, cancellation of tenders on techno-commercial evaluation, delay in supply of equipment etc.
During the year 2015-16, RE was reduced due to various reasons such as time taken regarding decision on clustering & de-clustering of digital transmitters, non participation of bidders in tendering process etc.
The alternatives available for the technical/technology choices and the plan of action, with the chosen technology, require wide consultations which consume time and, to prevent sub-optimal choices, expenditure is postponed. This, at times, leads to reduction in plan expenditure at RE stage. This also was a contributing factor in the last two years.
Doordarshan follows rules & procedures based on the guidelines given in the Directorate General of Supplies & Disposals (DGS&D) Manual, GFR 2005 and Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) guidelines for procurement of Capital equipment/Turnkey projects on Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning (SITC) basis etc.
Tenders are invited through e-procurement mode, as per the mandate of Ministry of Finance, and according to the Standard Bidding Document prescribed by the Prasar Bharati.
