“Hello Moginand” is the new All-India Radio destination developed by the Nahan-based Government Senior Secondary School, Moginand, for airing educational as well as social awareness programmes. Being the state’s first and country’s sixth educational radio station, a group of 14 students, led by science lecturer Sanjeev Attri, has been instrumental in securing a 24-hour slot on the AIR’s Shimla station. The maiden broadcast of 8.51 minutes on the theme “Radio Aaj Aur Kal” was aired today where a Class XII students Jyoti and Abhishek, Class XI student Sunil and Class X students Saloni, Kalpana and Aimen aired views, along with centre director Attri. The feat has been achieved with the technical support of Mumbai-based RD Broadcasting Limited. Having 30-year experience in teaching, Attri wanted to harness the energy of children in productive sphere. Attri was an accreditated director with the Ministry of Culture as he had produced several films on cultural themes like traditional dances of Solan and Kinnaur. He wanted to expose the children towards the working of radio station and was on lookout for something unique.
An app, Radio Hello Moginand, has also been developed which will help students getting access to class lessons as well as a variety of entertainment and knowledgeable programmes. A make-shift studio has been set up in the school with the help of unused articles to record daily programmes where varied subjects, including places of religious interest, will be chosen. School Principal Rajesh Solanki said students were excited at the launch of this venture and Attri had aptly trained 14 students for this. Sharing his experience on this new innovation, Attri said it had helped to channel the energy of children who did not fare well in academics and were rather naughty. They had shown exemplary results in preparing the radio programmes. While the first production had taken over four hours, the team was now preparing various themes on which this radio could be fed for 24-hours.
