All India Radio, Bangalore had arranged Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan 2017 at Ravindra Kalakshetra, J.C.Road, Bangaluru with sufficient press and microphone publicity along with social media presence and DDK coverage. Many had enthusiastically collected the invitation cards in addition to those mailed to connoisseurs, Sabhas and senior musicians of u Bangaluru.The evening began with a welcome address by Smt.B.V.Padma, Station Director, All India Radio, Bangaluru. The announcement regarding launching of online application for music audition was received overwhelmingly. The first concert of the evening was a Sitar recital by Pandit Soumitra Lahiri, supported on the tabla by Debashish Sarkar. The artists set a perfect mood for the evening with raag Hemant and raag Manj Kamaj. The melodious presentation was appealing.
The second concert was a Karnatik vocal duet by Hyderabad Brothers supported on the violin by H.K.Venkataram, Mridangam by Vidwan Mannargudi.A.Easwaran, Ghatam by Vidwan Nemani Somayajulu and on Khanjira by K.Shyamkumar. It was a jam packed session with the listeners eager to enjoy the maestros. Living upto their reputation Hyderabad Brothers, Vidwan D.Sheshachary and Vidwan D.Raghavachary, enthralled the audience with a good variety of choicest of compositions. Their elaboration of Saveri and Kalyani raga was applauded by audience. The tani avartanam lead by Maestro Mannargudi A.Easwaran with a competent support by Vidwan Nemani Somayajulu and the young talent K.Shyamakumar was dynamic and gripping.
Hyderabad Brothers sang the lilting Pahi Ramachandra Raghava in rarely heard Yadukula Kambodi followed by Haridasulu vedale in Yamuna Kalyani as a fitting finale. The packed audience enjoyed a wholesome experience of chaste Karnatik classical music. During the event, archival CDs worth Rs.8750 were sold at the counter. The event got sufficient mention in prominent dailies.
