FM TRAGOPAN was launched at Akashvani conference hall, Kohima on October 2.
Speaking at the launching programme, Limawati, Director IPR said, “AIR has a very special place in our heart but so far the developmental role played by AIR and other media houses has not been studied and acknowledged by many people in Nagaland.”With the coming of satellite and cables facility, he stated, many felt that radio will lose its relevance but with changing times radio has also adapted well and it is still playing a very important role in catering to the needs of the people in Nagaland.Recalling that he grew up listening to radio, he said having our own FM station which will be transmitted from Nagaland is a dream come true. He lauded AIR Kohima for making the dream a reality. The IPR Director added that people should take advantage of the AIR FM TRAGOPAN services and display their talents in music and other fields and also realize the importance of having an FM channel of our own.
Also speaking at the function, KV Ramachandran, Deputy Director General (Engineering) Head of Office, said with the launch of FM TRAGOPAN in Kohima it will have its own channel which will exclusively cater FM programme from 6:00 am to 9:30 pm. He mentioned that AIR, which integrates the whole of Nagaland, is the only medium which integrates the 14 dialects of Nagaland. It was further informed that FM TROGAPAN will also relay programs of all the dialects of Nagaland. FM relay stations are already installed in Dimapur, Meluri and Shamator and shortly FM transmissions will be installed in Peren and Wokha, Ramachandran added.
