The ‘Vayalum Veedum’ (Farm and Home) programme of All India Radio is a well known name in the farming sector of Kerala over last fifty years. The credible voice of the programme,made it a trusted friend of farmers and a reliable partner of Government agencies for knowledge transfer. Recently, the Government of Kerala has launched a host of new projects and schemes to encourage farmers and attain self-sufficiency in agricultural production in the State. Few such schemes like ‘Onathinu Oru Muram Pachakkari’ (A Basket of Vegetables for Onam) were launched in this regard. As always, the ‘Vayalum Veedum’ programme of All India Radio rose to the occasion to promote these schemes and create awareness among the general public.
The Hon’nle Minister for Agriculture, Government of Kerala, Adv. V S Sunil Kumar had visited the studios of All India Radio Thiruvananthapuram in person,to record an interview on these new schemes. This was broadcast in the Farm and Home programme and received wide attention and appreciation from the listeners. During the interview, the Hon’ble Minister himself had highlighted the exemplary role played by All India Radio in reaching out to the farming community effectively for over half a century. The interview was hosted by Shri. Muraleedharan Thazhakkara, Programme Executive (Farm and Home).
