All India Radio, Ooty has been declared as Best Maintained Station among difficult stations on All India basis as First winner for the year 2014 and awarded with M.L. Manchanda Award. All the credit goes to dedicated Engineering ,Administration and programme team of AIR Udhagamandalam and the able leadership of Smt.P.Nagarathinam Sakthivelu,DDE and ,Ms.Madhavi Ravindranath, ADP of AIR Ooty.
The station All India Radio, Ooty was commissioned on 07.5.1994 under the 7th plan of NLRS scheme. It is located on the Ooty - Mysore State Highways approximately 5 kms away from the heart of the town. The site is nearer to the Gymkhana Golf Club. As Ooty is situated at a height of approx. 2250mtrs, as such cold condition prevails throughout the year.
