The Regional News Unit is inaugurated in All India Radio Visakhapatnam, by Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Hon’ble Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Urban Development, Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation on 7th April at 2.40 PM. Shri Ghanta Srinivasa Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Human Resources Development, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Dr.K.Hari Babu, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (LS), Visakhapatnam, Shri Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao (AVanthi), Member of Parliament(LS), Anakapalli, Shri P.V.N.Madhav, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Council, Andhra Pradesh, Shri G.Srinivasulu Naidu, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Council, Shri Rajeev Kumar, CEO, Prasar Bharati, Shri F.Sheheryar, Director General, All India Radio, Shri Sitanshu Kar, Director General(Ness), All India Radio, Shri Pravin Kumar, District Collector, Prof. G.NageswaraRao, Vice Chancellor, Andhra University, Shri S.Ramachandran, ADG(E), AIR&TV, Chennai ,Smt. CEO, Prasar Bharati, DG AIR & DG News have offered flower bouquets . A musical cultural program is also arranged by the staff artists of AIR Visakhaptnam. This is the 47th Regional News Unit of All India Radio. This Regional News Unit at Visakhapatnam is second of its kind in the Andhra Pradesh state after Vijayawada. A news bulletin in Telugu from this unit is being aired on the entire AIR network - 14 stations of Andhra Pradesh from 8.00 p.m. to 8.10 p.m daily.On this occasion, in his address to the large gathering, Shri Venkaiah Naidu stressed that All India Radio is most trusted broadcasting system in India. And he also said that AIR is does not create or manufacture news but broadcast the genuine news that reaches all corners of the country. He also said that because of this credibility, Hon’ble Prime Minister had chosen this medium to broadcast his “Mann ki Baat” that reaches the masses all over the nation. He also advised other media not to mix news with their own views. He also termed the AIR is the “Pride of the Country”
