Noted commentator of All India Radio (AIR) Ghanashyam Mishra passed away at his residence in Mahanadi Vihar this morning following a protracted illness. He was 77. Talking to OTV, Chinmay Mishra, son of Ghanashyam Mishra, said his father had infection in kidney, liver and urinary tract. He was bed-ridden since June this year. “We had initially admitted him in Healthcare Hospital in Cuttack. Later we had admitted in Kalinga Hospital in Bhubaneswar. After his health condition improved, we had brought him to the house. He was with us for one month. But as his health condition deteriorated, we had admitted him to the SCB Medical College and Hospital on September 16 and admitted in the ICU on the next day. This morning his condition became more critical and despite all efforts, he passed away at 9.15 AM,” he said.

Widely known as an eminent commentator, Mishra had joined All India Radio (AIR), Cuttack in 1967 as a commentator. During his stint, he has done a number of commentaries. Apart from Odia, he was well versed in Bengali, Hindi, Sanskrit and English language.

"Prasar Bharati Parivar joins the bereaved family in sharing their grief. We all pray to God for eternal peace to the departed soul".
