Radio Kashmir Jammu and J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today felicitated Sh. Ravinder Jamwal, a prominent sculptor in its series of programmes entitled “JHAROKHA” organized jointly on 4th of every month by the and JKAACL in the K.L Saigal Hall, Jammu.
Sh. Ravinder Jamwal, an internationally acclaimed sculptor of the state was born on Nov.,1st, 1960 in Birpur, Jammu. He did his B.F.A degree from Institute of Fine Arts, Jammu in 1986 and in 1988, he got Degree in Portraiture from University of Baroda. In Sept., 2000, he was appointed as Instructor in the IMFA and presently he has been working as Sr. Instructor.He has participated not only at the State and National but also at International level in Paris(1999), Korea(1995). By virtue of his outstanding contribution, he has been decorated with numerous Awards among which are ‘Robe of Honor’ by Panun Kashmir, socio-cultural organization in 1992, National Award by ANN in 1996, Dogra Rattan Award in 2013, Favourite Duggar personality Award in 2016.
Sh. S.K Malhotra, Programme Head, Radio Kashmir, Jammu in his Welcome Address thanked the audience for giving immense response to this series and reaching out to attend this programme in every edition. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Programme Executive Mrs. Anjana Badyal.
Sh. N.D Jamwal, eminent sculptor, painter, Dogri poet, writer and intellectual presided over while Sh. Agnishekhar ,a renowned Hindi Writer was the Chief Guest. Sh. S.K Malhotra, Programme Head, Radio Kashmir, Jammu and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL were also in the presidium.
While delivering his presidential address, Mr. N.D Jamwal congratulated Mr. Ravinder Jamwal for being felicitated here in Jharokha and appreciated his contributions as an artist of international fame. He also appreciated the programme, Jharokha series jointly organized by JKAACL and RKJ. He further added that such programmes also bridge the gap and create an atmosphere for interaction with the art lovers and youth in particular.
While speaking on the occasion, Sh.Agnishekhar complimented RKJ and JKAACL for honouring an eminent personality from the field of visual arts in this programme. While appreciating the contribution of Mr. Ravinder Jamwal, he said that his popularity can be assessed witnessing the Statutes of great heroes and personalities of Dogra region like General Bikram Singh, Maharaja Gulab Singh, Mahatma Gandhi etc.
While presenting Vote of thanks, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn said that today in the 20th episode of Jharokha, Mr. Ravinder Jamwal, the visual artist is being felicitated and this is for the first time that a dignitary from the field of art has been honoured. He further detailed about the future activities organized by JKAACL.
Sh.Ravinder Jamwal thanked the two premier organizations for conferring this honour upon him and shared his experience followed by a healthy interaction.
