In connection with this year’s Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan All India Radio Chennai had organized three excellent concerts giving variety of colors to the audience gathered in the Multi Track Recording Studio Auditorium in the premises on 24th of September 2016 at 5.30 pm which was presided and inaugurated by the Violin maestro, National Artist of All India Radio Prof. T.N.Krishnan. The hall was jam packed by great musicians, critics and press. The news about the program was published in many papers.
The program opened with Hindusthani concert- Sundri recital by Pandit. Suryakant Khaladkar who was accompanied by Sri. Sanjay Apar on the Tabla. The dynamic performance was well received by the full packed audience. It was great pleasure and unique chance for the Chennai music lovers to listen to this rare wind instrument. The next performance was of a thundering layavinyaasam on the Tavil by Kovilur. K.G.Kalyanasundaram. from Thiruchirappally. The whole audience was spellbound after enjoying the Mishra chapu talam.The third and the last performance was a vocal recital by Vishnudev Namboothiri from Thrissur. He was accompanied by Sri N Sampath on the violin from Thrissur, Shri N.C. Bharadwaj on the Mridangam from Chennai and Uduppi S. Srikanth on the Khanjira from Thiruvananthapuram.
More than 500 people attended the concert and many critics and press from The Hindu (English), Dinakaran(tamil), Eeenadu (Telugu), Saakshi (telugu) were present. All the music lovers enjoyed and appreciated the ever dynamic and wonderful event.
