ARDHA CHAKRASAN (Half Wheel Posture)
Ardha means half, Chakra means wheel. In this posture, as the body takes the shape of a half wheel, hence it is called Ardha Chakrasan.
Benefits:
· Makes the spine flexible
· Strengthen the spinal nerves and muscles
· Helps in the management of cervical and lumbar spondylosis
Caution:
· Avoid this posture in case of vertigo or a tendency to giddiness
· Hypertensive patients should bend with care
Techniques (How to perform):
· Stand straight with feet 2 inch apart
· Support the back at the sides of the waist with thumbs towards the spine and fingers towards navel
· Drop the head backwards stretching the neck muscles
· Inhaling bend backwards from the lumbar region and stay here for 10-20 seconds with normal breathing
· Exhaling slowly come up and keep the head straight
· Remove the hands from the waist
· Relax in Bishram position.
