AIR SATARA is a non cosited station situated in western ghat of sahyadri mountain in maharashtra. AIR and LPT TV transmitters  are cosited on the hilltop of historical AJINKYTARA fort.

It has to face lots of difficulties due to its location such as there is no public transport,office vehicle reaches only upto main entrance of fort from where staff has to carry material on overhead via curvy stonned ladder to the fort and then half kilometer footpath to the transmitter entrance which becomes more difficult in rainy season due to occurance of wlld animals.There are no shops, houses or any residential places on the hilltop.

There is no water supply to the fort and drinking water is to be carried out daily on overhead. There is one pond near the transmitter which is the only source for need of day  to day water use.Due to drought like situation for last two years pond had dried completely and staff had to face accute scarcity of water.

In the wake of coming monsoon, the entire staff of AIR and DD carried out work of pond cleaning for last two weeks,by voluntarily removing mud slurry and sand to the tune of two trucks manuually by the way of SHRAMDAAN.

Now all are praying for monsoon rain to fill up the pond and hearts too with plenty of water..
