Minister for Local Self Government and Minority Affairs K.T.Jaleel on Monday officially launched ‘Think clean,’ a short-film contest on sanitation jointly organised by Suchitwa Mission and the Doordarshan Kendra Thiruvananthapuram. Starting Monday, Doordarshan will telecast the programme on all weekdays from Monday to Thursday at 9 a.m. in 80 episodes. There will be a repeat telecast at 3 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. the following day.
“Each one of us as individuals is responsible for the waste we generate and it is high time we changed our attitude towards waste. This programme should set the spark in the minds of every individual,” said Mr. Jaleel.“We pioneered the sanitation and drainage system during the Harappa civilization. Now that has become history, and the use-and-throw culture has brought us to the current situation. We have to go back to our own roots and get our act together,” said K. Vasuki, executive director of Suchitwa Mission. The short-film contest is being arranged in three categories — 5-minute inspirational videos, 2-minute videos that educate and empower ordinary people and 30-second commercials.
