Deepak Joshi, Deputy Director General, Prasar Bharati, spoke on the subject, ‘Broadcasting on the new vistas: Challenged and Opportunities’ on the second day of the three-day long closing ceremony of the golden jubilee celebrations of All India Radio (AIR), Dibrugarh on Thursday. He spoke at length on social media and its benefits with regard to broadcasting. The closing ceremony of the year-long golden jubilee celebration of All India Radio, Dibrugarh got underway on Wednesday at the premises of AIR Dibrugarh. The ceremony began with a conference of the retired and working AIR officials. Several retired officers, star broadcasters of yesteryears and employees participated in this ‘Milan Samaroh’ conference.
Former Station Director of AIR, Dibrugarh and Guwahati, Lutfur Rahman took part in the conference and exhorted the new generation to work hard to be good broadcasters. Station Director of AIR Guwahati, Dilip Kr. Das; former Station Directors of AIR, Guwahati, Dinesh Das, Surya Das, and retired officers; and employees from engineering and administrative sections of AIR Dibrugarh also took part in the conference. Veteran broadcasters of yesteryears shared their varied experience of working in AIR, Dibrugarh with the audience and listeners.
In the beginning of the conference, the golden jubilee closing ceremony light was lit by former ADG, Prasar Bharati, NE and now consultant, Deben Basumatary. All the retired officers and employees were greeted with a memento and gamosa. The ‘Milan Samaroh’ programme was beautifully anchored by Rupjyoti Duwara, senior announcer of the station.
Programme Head of AIR Dibrugarh, Lohit Chandra Deka delivered the vote of thanks to all the officials. In the evening, a folk and tribal cultural programme was organized with artists from different parts of Assam. AIR Dibrugarh station was established on February 15, 1969. In the journey of 50 long years, Akashbani Dibrugarh has earned a lot of laurels at the national level. The station has served the purposes of the people of Upper Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and a part of Nagaland.
