Sri Amalendu Bikash Kar Choudhury , Retd. Station Director of All India Radio , Kolkata passed away on 17.05.2016 at the age of 87.He was widely known as a lyricist . composer, renowned artiste vis-a-vis exponent of Bengali Raagprodhan songs.He has composed many popular Bengali songs sung by famous artistes of Bengal like Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty , Ustad Rashid Khan (his maiden Bengali song) ,Pt. Arun Bhaduri , Vidushi Sipra Bose and many others.
His two famous books 'Raagprodhan Ganer Utsa Sandhaney; (Evolution of Bengali Raagprodhan Songs) and ' Tribal Songs of North- East India' drew the attention of music connoisseurs. He is survived by his only son working at DDK,Kolkata.
