Radio Kashmir Jammu organised a one day Gojri poetic symposium (mushaira) and Gojri folk music concert on 30.5.16 at Kalali Murrah Surankote with the collaboration of Jammu Peace Mission. This was a first of its kind initiative taken by Radio Kashmir Jammu to organize an event of this magnitude at a far flung place which can be visited by travelling on a kuchha road constructed by Army a few years ago to fight insurgency.
Station Director Radio Kashmir Jammu Sh.V.K.Sambyal in his opening address welcomed everyone and stated that Radio Kashmir Jammu has embarked upon an ambitious journey of taking Radio to the very door step of its listeners since last two years. In its endeavour to do so Radio Jammu has started a series of poetic symposiums and music concerts at various locations in the region. Radio is the only mass media that reaches every household of the state, but these programmes are meant to physically take the artists and the presenters of radio Jammu to its listeners and perform in front of the audience.
Col.Dharmveer Singh, C.O.16 R.R. was the chief guest on the occasion which was also graced by Gen. Secretary Pradesh Congress Jammu & Kashmir Shahnawaz Choudhary Other prominent citizens of the place were also present. A large number of locals thronged the event with great enthusiasm and stayed during the entire event often bursting into huge cheer and applause on the performance of the poets and singers.
The artists who enthralled the crowd with their melodious music and compositions included Bashir Mastana ,Ayaz Ahmad Saif ,Zulekha Farid ,Mohd Yousaf and others.The poets who participated in the Mushaira included Mohd Jahangir Asghar , Abdul Ghani perdesi , Rayaz Ahmad, Mukhtar Majaz , Fazal Hussain Tahir , Atta Ullah Shad , Hafiz ur Rehman , Abdul Hamid Anees, Mohd Bashir lohar, Mohd Ismail, Maqsud Ahmed. The stage proceedings were conducted professionally by Incharge Gojri Section Ch.GHassan Perwaz, an immensely popular voice of the language. Programme Executive Nitish Arora, Rajesh Gupta and Sanjeev Sharma co-ordinated the event.
The program was organised in the lap of Hill Kaka where operation Sarv vinash was started in 2002 and the people of this area stood with Army to eliminate the militants from this place. The volunteers of Jammu Peace Mission fought with militants in the command of Fazal Hussain Tahir.Efforts like this go a long way in not only promoting the indigenous language and culture but harnessing the new potential and providing them with a National platform. The role of Radio was applauded by every single individual who graced the occasion and thanked Station Director for the initiatives taken for the welfare of the language and the artists and looked forward to more such events in near future.
