About 200 listeners from different walks of life ,including techno-savy youth, retired Government servants,farmers and differently abled persons assembled at 'G.Hiran Nagar',in Manjeri,Kerala,under the aegies of All Kerala Radio Listeners' Association (AKRLA) Malappuram District Committee.The listeners' meet was held in a hall named after the late G.Hiran,prominent broadcaster,poet,screen play writer and Programme Executive of Kochi F.M,(formerly with Kozhikode,Manjeri stations) in connection with his first death anniversary
The function was inaugurated by M.Ummar,local M.L.A .He said he was astonished by the turn-out,which is unprecedented. D.Pradeep Kumar,ADP and Head of Programme,Manjeri F.M was honoured for winning Dr B.R.Ambedkar Media Award instituted by the State government and his contribution in modernising Malayalam broadcasting. Brijesh Pookkottoor,who has developed an unofficial app for live steaming radio programmes and K.K.Kunjani Thenjeri,District President of KARLA ,who was elected to a Grama Panchayath too were honoured with plaques and citations.
Mathew Joseph, Programme Executive,A.I.R,Kozhikode, Muneer Amayur,Sevil Jihan,Transmission Executives,Manjeri F.M ,P.K.Vinod,P.Shaji, S.Salini,T.P.Vinay, Kumar, C.M.Bindu, K.M.Najiya, M.Muhsina Beegum,C.SanthoshKumar,C.Prameela,C.Pravda,P.Smijitha,C.Ramya and Najeeb, popular presenters, interacted with the listeners.A number of listeners narrated their listening experinces.The programme was organised by a team led by K.K.Kunjani Thenjeri,District President of KARLA and Mujeeb Rahman Pullara,Secretary of the organisation.
