Appreciation for AIR Kargil by Hon'ble CHairman J&K Legislative Council

Chairman J&K Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali Called upon ArunJaitleyUnion Minister for Finance and Information & Broadcasting Government of India and Smt. Uma Bharti Union Minster for Water Resources GOI and discussed issues related to Kargil District. Haji Anayat Ali urged Upon the Union Minister ArunJaitly for making arrangement of broadcasting the Regional Version of monthly programme Mann-ki-Baat of the Prime Minster, Narendra Modi on the demand of the people of from All India Radio relay stations in Drass, Tai-Suru and Padum along with other regional programmes generated from All India Radio Kargil. He termed AIR Kargil as the main media and communication lifeline of the district that binds together its people who are otherwise spread across its difficult terrain and Permission to relay these programmes through these relay stations will go a long way in strengthening the social bonds within the district. On the demand of the people of Kargil he also, requested that these programmes will be broadcasted through FM Stations. This will make these programmes even more accessible as cell phones are able to receive FM signal and are now present in almost every household of the district. He also requested to complete the construction of AIR FM Station coming up at Hombothingla and also request to make FM Radio service available 24-hours-a-day as it is in most of the country.

Talking about the pain and hardship of the Casual workers of All India Radio in Kargil, Drass, Tai Suru and Padum, only due to their efforts the stations are working in these most difficult parts of the Country, he requested for making their services regular. He also discussed the issue of opening Programme Generating Facility of Doordarshan Kargil at which is one of the oldest demands of this border area which will play a role similar to AIR Kargil to not only enhance the local culture of Kargil and provide employment to local youth, but also provide a unique geo-strategic opportunity to reach the people living across the LoC in Baltistan. Arun Jaitly assured Haji Anayat Ali that all these demands will be fulfilled with immediate effects and the issue to Casual Workers will be discussed and fulfilled according to norms.
