



Dr.H.Kempe Gowda,Joint Director of Agriculture D.K.District inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp and watering the plant. In his inaugural speech he commended the role of All India Radio, Kisanvani programme in particular, in the development of Agriculture of the region. He stressed the need for updating our knowledge so as to keep in pace with the developments in agriculture and the role played by the ALL INDIA RADIO, MANGALURU in disemminating the information regarding the Governmental Schemes, both central and the state that reaches the needful farmers. Dr.L.C Soans,a senior farmer and achiever delivered the keynote address and stressed the need for optimum utilization of resources including soil, nutrient and water for sustainable development. He also highlighted the importance of soil health ,conservation of water, role of mixed farming and value addition to the crop and ecotourism .He stressed the need for change in the mindset of the farmers to double the income in addition to governmental initiatives.

Smt.Ushalatha.S, Assistant Director(Programme) of AIR,MANGALURU highlighted the role played by AIR in rural development and listeners are advised to utilize the radio programmes for their own betterment.
Rajaverma Bailangady, President of Krishi Vichara Vinimaya Kendra, Moodubidre, insisted on maintaining good health by the farmers for doubling the farm income and he opined that radio is a forum for sharing farmers experiences..
Bhaskara Kotian ,the president of Belvai Sahkari Vyavsayika Sangha,Belvai presided over the function and in his presidential speech he elaborated the plight of farmers in the present situation and need for looking into these problems and mitigate them. After the inauguration, a technical session on ways of doubling the farm income was arranged. ShreePadre,Editor of Adike Patrike spoke on Jackfruit as furure commercial crop ,Dr.N.E.Naveen 0n-Mechnisation in paddy cultivation, Ramakrishna Sharma on -Jasmine cultivation, Dr.M.Gangadhara Nayak- on High Density Planting in cashew and Smt.Manorma Bhat- on Importance of Minor Millets. More than 200 farmers attended the days function.
