World Radio Day - AIR Coimbatore hosted live Radio Bridge involving AIR, Chennai, Madurai, Puducherry, Trichy & Thirunelvei

All India Radio stations in Tamil Nadu Broadcast a live Radio Bridge Programme on 13.2.2018 from 10 AM to 11 AM in connection with World Radio Day.

Radio is one of the media offering a platform for public debate on issues of national importance where public can participated irrespective of their cast, creed or their level of educational background. Radio has played a strong role in taking the message during emergency situations and at the time of national calamities. 13th February 2018 - World Radio Day is celebrated with the caption Sports and Radio as announced by UNESCO. 

On the occasion of World Radio Day, All India Radio, Coimbatore hosted and co-ordinated the live Radio Bridge programme on 13th February 2018 from 10.00AM to 11.00AM. AIR, Chennai, Madurai, Puducherry, Trichy, Thirunelvei participated and all other stations in Tamil Nadu & Puducherry relayed the programme.

Sri R Ariharasudhan, Asst.Professor of Hindusthan College, Coimbatore co-ordinated the Radio Bridge programme from the Studios of AIR, Coimbatrore and emphasized the importance of Radio in all walks of life. Radio will be a good friend to all at all times, he re-iterated.

Sri J Kamalanathan, Retired Station Director from the studio of AIR, Chennai shared about the traditional history of Chennai AIR and also described about how the radio giving space for sports and also spoke about the cricket commentary personalities.

Professor P J Biju Joseph from the studios of AIR, Tiruchirapalli shared his view on youth and radio, expecially Ilayabharatham, gnanavani, etc.

Sri R Sivakumar, Journalist from the studios of AIR, Madurai expressed about how AIR involved in Tourism Development and also narrated the democratic essence of Radio and its effect on marginalized people.

Professor G Sankara Veerabathran from the studios of AIR, Tirunelveli expressed the diversity of Radio and also about various types of radios like HAM, Community Radio and their usages. He also shared his view about Man ki Baat programme.

Deputy Collector N Thamizhselvan from the studios of AIR, Puducherry explained how AIR played a vital role in disaster management, especially the role of Puducherry AIR at the time of Tsunami and during other natural calamities.
