The Earth Station and DSNG team of DDK BHUBANESWAR have innovated and developed one single port KU band LNBC in the frequency range of 10.70-12.75 GHz with LO 10.6 GHz by integrating frontal rectangular cross section of dual/single port Norsat/SMW KU band LNBC with good Universal single LNBC (DTH) for use in Doordarshan’s 4.5m and 5.0m diameter PDA fitted with KU band centre feed.
A piece of rectangular-cross-section of front end of dual/single port Norsat/SMW LNBC was fabricated. The funnel (front) end of Universal single LNBC (yellow colour) was cut. The fabricated rectangular piece was joined with F-connector end piece (electronics) of Universal single LNBC. The jointing portion was covered with RF shield material. The developed KU-LNBC was fitted to KU band centre feed of 5 meter dia PDA and downlink signal carried through 70meter cable was tested at MSR in DVBS-2 Ericsson IRD. At uplink power of 10watt from DSNG van, the downlink signal parameters received through the said developed KU-LNBC were C/N:12.8dB and LM:+4.7dB which were found satisfactory in comparison to professional Norsat/SMW LNBC. The quality of downlink video & audio was also very good.
The developed single port KU-LNBC(cost Rs.2Hundred) can be used as replacement to professional Norsat make Dual port Ku band LNBC (cost Rs.1 lakh) and SMW make Dual port Ku band LNBC (cost Rs.60 thousand).
The innovation & development work has been demonstrated to DDG(E)and DD(E)s of DDK Bhubaneswar . Such developed KU-LNBC is being put to further test to assess its long term stability and quality. The persons associated with this innovation/ development are:
