Ex-Director Radio Station Jammu, VK Sambyal donates Maharaja-Poonch period revolver to Department of Archives Archaeology and Museums.

Ex-Director Radio Station Jammu, Vijay Kumar Sambyal on Thursday donated a licensed revolver (pistol) with its leather belt and cover by to Department of Archives Archaeology and Museums. Appreciating Sambyal for donating the pistol that belongs to the Maharaja-Poonch period bearing no: 160571 (ML) of 32 bore, Director Mohammad Shafi Zahid said that pistol will be placed on display in Dogra Art Museum with donor’s name and photograph prominently displayed alongside the object. The Director further said that all interested individuals /organizations in possession of rare objects belonging to their ancestors and intend to preserve their heritage may donate the same to the department. These donors will be honored by displaying their name/ photograph near the donated object displayed in the museum. The department in a series of exhibitions entitled “object of the month” will also be exhibiting/showcasing such objects antiquity through this medium of exhibition and will create awareness among the art connoisseurs besides the department will augment its documentation and collection as donation is one of the main sources of increasing the collection of the museums.
