Broadcast Engineering Society (India) established in the year 1987, is a premier body of broadcast professionals in India, with the objective to promote the advancement and dissemination of knowledge and practice of broadcasting and related sciences. The society organizes seminars, workshops, exhibitions and symposiums in various fields of broadcasting.
As a tribute to Public Service broadcasting, BES celebrates every year the “National Public Service Broadcasting Day” on 12th November, the day on which Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of Nation, visited AIR studios for the first and the only time in the year 1947. BES (I) celebrated National Public Service Broadcasting Day at Delton Hall, IETE, #2, Institutional Area, Lodhi Road, New Delhi at 4.00 PM.
Shri I.I. George, President welcomed Dr. S.Y. Quraishi, former Chief Election Commissioner as Chief Guest by presenting bouquet. Sh. O.P. Rajpurohit, Hon. Treasurer also welcomed and honoured Smt Supriya Sahu, DG:DD by presenting bouquet and Sh. Y.K. Singh, Hon. Secretary welcomed Sh. Ajay Gupta, Engineer-in-Chief, DD by presenting bouquet.
Sh. S.Y. Quraishi, former Chief Election Commissioner of India and former DG DD was chief guest and Smt. Supriya Sahu, Director General, Doordarshan and Sh. Ajaya Gupta, Engineer-in-Chief were guest of honour. Sh. I.I. George, President BES (I) welcomed all guests and briefed about National Public Service Broadcasting Day. He also elaborated the role of Padma Shree H.S. Jolly, former president of BES (I) in Broadcasting. Dr. S.Y. Quraishi, addressed the gathering and briefed the role of broadcasting in India and also shared his experience with audience. Smt Supreya Sahu, DG:DD in her short speech, also explore the importance of National Public Service Broadcaster in current days. In his address Sh. Ajay Gupta explained that Engineers understands the importance of Public Service Broadcasting and always been working for it. Shri Y.K. Singh, Hon. Secretary, BES (I) thanked all BES Members, audience, guests, Chief Guest to make this event a great success.
