In the prestigious ABU (Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union ) Prizes – 2017, the entry of AIR, Thiruvananthapuram ‘Manassundengil…… Maargavumundu’ (If there’s a will……..there’s a way) written and produced by Smt. Leelamma Mathew, Assistant Director (P) has been selected as the Commended Entry in the Community Service Announcement Category. This programme has already been selected as the Best Public Service Announcement in the Akashvani Annual Awards -2016.

‘Manassundengil…… Maargavumundu’- Short Synopsis:
This Community Service Announcement of 89 seconds, based on Rain Water Harvesting, addresses the acute problem of water scarcity and related issues being faced by Kerala, God’s own country which is gifted with bounteous rains, verdant forests and lush rivers. It aims to persuade citizens of Kerala to a new life style prioritizing rainwater harvesting and judicious use of water.

State Level
Recipient of State Government’s prestigious Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy “Kalasree” Award in 2013 for the contributions in the field of Broadcasting
Recipient of the First Media Award instituted by the Indian Public Health Association, Kerala Chapter in 2010 for being the Producer of “Oru Kuda Choodam” the popular 17 episode Radio Awareness Series on Monsoon – related Communicable Diseases.
Recipient of “Nammude Aarogyam” Media Award in 2012 instituted by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) for the best Radio Programme on Health and Family Welfare.
National Level
Recipient of National Award in the AIR Annual Awards Competition – 2008 for being the Producer of the First Prize winning Family Welfare Programme “Sukrutham” (The Good Deed). This programme was based on the real success story of Nithya Das, the down syndrome affected.
Recipient of National Award in AIR Annual Awards Competition-2010 for being the Producer of the First Prize winning Family Welfare Programme “Swapnakkoodu” (The Nest of Dreams). This was the real success story of a boy who was born with ‘brittle bone syndrome’ and the sincere efforts put in by his parents & family members for his success.
Recipient of National Award in AIR Annual Awards Competition – 2016 for being the Producer of the First Prize winning Public Service Announcement “Where there’s a will, there’s a way’ which highlights the importance of Rain Water Harvesting.
Recipient of National Award in the AIR Annual Awards Competition – 2012 for being the Producer of the Second Prize winning Family Welfare Programme “Onnu Kaiyyadickoo….. Please………” (A Big Applause………please…..) This is the unusual real success story of Dr. Shyam Prasad, who was affected by Cerebral Palsy.
Recipient of Merit Certificate in the Gandhian Philosophy and Public Service Broadcasting Awards – 2010 for the feature “Ormameghangal” (The Clouds of Reminiscence) in the Public Service Broadcasting Category. This was the real touching life story of a woman who nursed and cared her husband who was suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease for 10 years, without anybody’s support.
Merit Certificate in the AIR Annual Awards Competition – 2013 for being the producer of the Children’s programme “Muthappankavile Appooppan” which represented India in the ABU Prizes – 2013.
International Achievements :
Became Finalist in the 12th International Radio Festival of Iran-2012 for being the Producer of Radio Programme `FEAR’ in the Short Drama Category and had attended the Festival held in Iran.
Producer of the Radio Documentary `Namukku Oru Veedu Mathram’ (We have only one Home) on Sustainable Energy which represented India in the AIBD Awards-2012 and ABU Prizes Awards-2012.
Producer of the Radio Programme `The Rebirth of River Varattar’ which has been selected as India’s entry for the URTI International Radio Grand Prix – 2017 on the theme ‘Reborn after and for the ABU Sonic Radio Drama Festival -2017 . The results are yet to come.
Other Achievements :
Top Grade Light Music Artiste of AIR. Had sung for Movies, T.V., Radio, Albums, Audio CDs and Cassettes. Had given several public performances in Music in India, the U.S.A. and the Middle East.
Presented Light Songs in the National Programme of Regional Folk and Light Music Festival-2013 of All India Radio on 10-09-2013.
