Dogri Kavi Gosthi by Radio Kashmir Jammu

Bhaguna, Samba:The setting, Village of a poet departed more than five decades ago, in the presence of his wife and all other family members. The scene , a Kavi Goshthi organised by Radio Kashmir Jammu. The twist in the tale, narration of a poem by the poet himself, that the audience listed to only after a gap of 50 years. The effect, stream of tears rolling down the eyes of many. It was pure nostalgia when Radio Kashmir Jammu organised a Dogri kavi Gosthi in fond memory of Dogri poet Charan Singh at his native Village Baghuna in Rajinder Pura. Prof. Lalit Magotra read a well researched paper on the life of the poet who achieved great literary heights in a short span of only 28 years. The event was attended by a large number of prominent citizens of the place and organised in a historic set up of Brigadier Rajinder Singh Park, another hero of the area, who is lauded as the Saviour of Kashmir.

The paper reading session was followed by the Kavi gosthi in which eleven poets of various genres mesmerised the audience with the skilful rendering of their choicest poems. The event lasted for almost two hours and the arena kept on swelling with more and more public by every passing minutes. Station Director Radio Kashmir Jammu Sh.V.K.Sambyal informed the gathering that the station has embarked upon the ambitious plan of honouring our greats at their native place in order to take our past to the future generations. The poets who participated in the programme included, Dr.Smt.Usha Vyas, Promila Manhas, Smt.sunita Badwal, Sh.rajinder Singh Raipuria, Sh.Bishan Singh Dardi, Sh.Vijay Sharma,Sh.Sita Ram Sapolia, Sh.Gyaneshwar Singh, and Sh. Sanjay vidrohi. Sh Mohan Singh conducted the proceedings of the Gosthi. The p[rogramme was anchored by Smt.Anjana Badyal, wheras Sh.Nitish Arora and Sh.Rajesh Gupta alongwith Sh.Chunni lal Sharma represented the team of Radio Kashmir Jammu that organised this event with the support of local panchayat of the block.

Sh.Yog Raj Singh , an 87 years old native and an associate of Kavi Charan Singh, who retired as chief conservator of forests was the chief guest on the occasion . The event was also graced by Maj.Gen Govardhan Singh Jamwal (rtd.) and many other prominent citizens. An event that will remain etched in the memories of everyone present on the occasion.
