Two days workshop on Kisanvani Impact Assessment & Capacity Building organised by All India Radio in collobration with Ministry of Agriculture Co-operation & Farmer's welfare on 29th & 30th June 2017 successfully concluded today at SKUAST Jammu after a healthy brain storming sessions wherein agriculture and media experts shared their skills and experiences with Kisanvani producers of AIR. The workshop was organised exclusively for the producers of Kisanvani programmes of various All India Radio Stations. 19 producers of Kisanvani from the Northern States of India participated in the workshop with the motive to pave out the passage by effective Radio Programming for the Govt. of India’s initiative for the stake holders for doubling farmers income by 2022 and benefitting the farming community through enriched content.
Hon'ble Minister of Forest,Environment and Ecology, J&K State Ch. Lal Singh was present on the concluding day. In his address he appreciated the role of Radio in disseminating information to the common masses living in rural and remote areas . He said that radio is life of humans and its variety of programmes in dialects and local languages sustain interest of the listeners. He claimed that he is a ardent lover of radio and listening radio is his passion. He appreciated the participation of AIR producers from various parts of the country and lauded their role in enlighting farmers of their respective regions thus improving the quality and quantity of their yeild. Saplings of pine were gifted to the producers of kisanvani by RKJ as a token of rememberance so as to carry a message of envoirnment preservation to their states. Radio is one of the most easily accessible source of knowledge and information for the farmers and to keep these food grower community in close proximity, radio sets were also distributed amongst the participating farmers . Station Director RKJ Ms. Anjali Sharma welcomed and thanked Hon'ble Minister for sparing his precious time for the workshop and apprised the gathering about the role of radio as public servant.
Apart from brain storming sessions involving experts and participanting media professionals ,field visit to the village Badori of block purmandal of Jammu, presentations by the Kisanvani producers of their sample programmes, the assessment of Kisanvani programme was done by progressive farmers and media experts who actively participated in the workshop.
Mr. Vijendra Sajwan,Programme Executive,F&H, Directorate General,AIR in his powe point presentation highlighted the importance of advisories issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Meteorology .He also announced the constitution of Kisanvani Programme Advisory Committee and nominated 5 members for Kisanvani Programme for Radio Kashmir Jammu.
Mr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma,VC, SKUAST lauded the role of Radio in making thumping impact on rural community and stressed for interesting format of programmes and use of IT sector to make aware the farming community.He said Radio should choose those topics which are relevant,topical and acceptable socially.
Sh. H.K Pani, OSD, DG AIR in his keynote address stressed upon the programme producers to first examine the subject fully before producing the programmes and local dialect be preferred.He also shared his experiences while working with AIR in various capacities. Sh. Sanjay Banerjee,Photo officer, MM/JD Department of Agriculture Co-operation and farmers Welfare, Govt. of India addressing the participant said that Flagship schemes may be taken into consideration for doubling the impact of farmers income and making the programmes more effective. Sh. J.P Sharma, Director Reasearch, SKUAST advised the need of diversified content for different areas and benefits of organic farming for sustainable development.
Besides the representations of officials from the Agriculture Ministry ,Regional Subject matter/Agro industry expert ,Agriculture Scientist, Agro Meteorologist from IMD,State Agriculture Department/District Administration officials ,NIC Scientists ,IT experts, Progressive farmers were part of the workshop.
