For over three decades, Shelter Don Bosco, a Non Governmental Organisation set up and run by the Salesian Society in the Province of Mumbai has been the beacon of light and hope for street children - with no hope - in our bustling metropolis of Mumbai. This programme has been produced by Mrs Ujawala Srinivas, Programme Director at All India Radio. The broadcast is on June 23rd at 10 pm on the national hookup on MW 1044 kHz or 287.3 mtrs. It can also be heard on FM Rainbow on 107.1 MHz.

Shelter Don Bosco, has over the years, responded to the growing needs and demands of vulnerable youth by seeking to empower the marginalized child, imparting education and skill training. Our mission is clear: We reach out to the unreached, roofless children, empower them by imparting education and holistic personality development programmes. Assist them into integrating into a larger society and strive to protect their rights.

Our work has drawn accolades from various quarters and now, All India Radio`s FM Rainbow channel (found on a frequency of 107.1 MHz), the nation`s premier Radio entity has recognized the work and contribution of Shelter Don Bosco to society in general in half hour long Radio feature programme entitled ``The Road to Shelter``, slated to broadcast on June 23, 2017 at 22:00 IST and DTH platforms.

The feature explores the work done at Shelter, by listening to the gripping stories of various stake holders, namely the street children and the Salesians who run Shelter Don Bosco, molding young impressionable minds into becoming into responsible citizens of tomorrow. As the Priest in charge of the Shelter Fr Gregory Almeida says, the primary goal of Shelter Don Bosco is to reunite the runaway or lost children with their families ... families often untraceable. The Radio feature offers a gripping account of homeless youth, who were left to die, but were given a new lease of life by the Salesians, who got them off the streets and gave them hope for a better tomorrow. The Feature also explores the facilities available to the youth at the centre, like computer education, counselling, health and nutrition, career placements, summer sports camps and also the Monthly Shelter Mela. So, please don`t forget to tune in to FM Rainbow to hear gripping accounts on the place, homeless children call home, Shelter Don Bosco.
