Obituary : Ashok Kumar Mishra (60), former Sr Announcer AIR, Jeypore, expires in Road Accident

Shri Ashok Kumar Mishra, former senior announcer of all India Radio, Jeypore, who had retired on 31 March, 2017 expired in a road accident at Bhadrachalam, near Khamam, Orrisa. Shri Mishra was one of the most Awarded Radio personality of AIR Jeypore. His dedication to programme production was exemplary. Ever since he joined as a junior announcer way back in 1983 he had been consistently producing quality programmes. The most popular programme in desia dialect, "Chaitijanha" had earned him the nickname "Sorsopadria-mama" in the nooks and corners of the listening zone. 

Starting with the docu-drama "Goru", that won him the first prize in 1992 he had been consistently winning awards at National as well as International competitions. His production, a musical feature "Moti Manika" had won the prestigious ABU award as the best programme on AIDS. For his innovative programme "Dhara Ra Koha" he was invited to Iran by The IRIB(Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting) in 2006. He had 26 Akashvani Annual Award Prizes and three International prizes in his basket. A lyricist, playright, presenter, Top-Grade drama voice, film director, producer, broadcaster, cultural researcher he was one of the greatest radio personalities of the broadcaster fraternity. 

The broadcasting world of India has lost a talented personality in this tragic accident. Shri Mishra has left behind him his wife, two sons and daughter, who reside at Jeypore. PB parivar deeply condoles the sad untimely demise of Ashok kumar Mishra and prays to the almighty to give strength to the family members to bear this great shock.
