Shri R C Gopal, DD(P), Station Director All India Radio Thiruvananthapuram retired on 31st May 2017

Shri. R C Gopal, Deputy Director – Programmes and the Station Director of All India Radio Thiruvananthapuram retired after his illustrious service of 33 years, on 31st May 2017. All staff members of All India Radio Thiruvananthapuram gathered together to bid farewell to their beloved Station Director, who was with them in each and every endeavour that the Station undertook in last 2 years.Born as the son of Malayalam poet Thycaud Chandrasekharan Nair, Shri R C Gopal joined the service of All India Radio as a Programme Executive in 1984. He holds a Masters of Technology from Indian Institute of Technology and chose the job from AIR above all other high profile jobs he was offered, to satisfy his passion as an artist. Shri. R C Gopal is a B High graded drama artist of AIR. He was part of various Radio Dramas since 1976. He also gave voice for various Radio Documentaries which won Akashvani Annual Awards. He was always passionate about performing for Radio Dramas and other programmes even amidst his busy schedule as the Head of Office of a Capital Station.

Shri. R C Gopal started his career as Programme Executive at AIR Kozhikode. He had also worked at Kochi, Nagercoil and Thiruvananthapuram stations as well as at AIR Directorate. He had also served as the Head of RABM Thiruvananthapuram. He was serving as the Head of Office and Station Director of AIR Thiruvananthapuram Capital Station since May 2015. Shri R C Gopal received training from Germany in producing Science Programmes for Radio. He had produced several Science Serials even at National level. He had also served as the member of International Jury of ABU in 2014.

Shri. R C Gopal is an example of how an officer should be conducting his duties sincerely, punctually and effectively. For him, authority was to help the betterment and welfare of his staff, respecting the listeners and public as well as to uphold the dignity and elegance of All India Radio. Any staff member could reach to him with their grievances anytime and had always kept a policy of being equally fair to everyone. At the same time, he was very strict and punctual in his work, never deviating from rules and precedence. Even on his last day at work, he not took any leisure. All the papers and files were completed and ensured nothing is left pending for his successor. It was the commitment and support of Shri R C Gopal as Station Director that enabled the conduct of the grand Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Farm and Home broadcast at Thiruvananthapuram in May 2017. He led from the front, co-ordinating and organizing this Mega event of AIR, attended by the Hon’ble Governor, Chief Minister, several Ministers and high ranking officials and numerous farmers of the State.

The entire family of All India Radio Thiruvananthapuram is wishing Shri. R C Gopal all the Best Wishes for a happy and enjoyable retirement life.
