We have immense pleasure to announce that All India Radio, Kurnool is completing 25 years of gratifying years by 9th May, 2017. All India Radio, Kurnool was informally inaugurated on 1-5-1992 and formally on 9-5-1992 by ShriKotlaVijayaBhaskar Reddy, the then Union Minister Of Law, Justice and Company Affairs and ShriAjit Kumar Panja, Minister of State, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and the journey of All India Radio, Kurnool has started eventually.

BEST PROGRAMMES BROADCAST FROM ALL INDIA RADIO :: KURNOOL :-
(1) FEATURE ON ROCK GARDENS - (Naturally formed hillocks of different formations of igneous rocks, the bull, lion, saint etc. which are 25 KMs away from Kurnool city. This feature was produced on the occasion of World Heritage Day and was broadcasted from all the stations in Andhra and Telangana on state hook up.

(2) YETLABBA -- A Dialogue based programme in Kurnool district’slocal dialect
This programme is being broadcast on every Thursday at 7-15 A.M. YETLABBA is a very popular programme in Kurnool FM. The dialogue is being produced on current topics which need awareness among public like Safety Driving, Fire Safety etc. The programme is also produced based on the topics present in the Programme Calendar of All India Radio.
(3) VEMANA MAATA – PRAGATHIKI BAATA :
A series of programmes on every Saturday from 8-15 PM to 8-30 PM were broadcast. The programme is based on the poems of the great saint and progressive writer YOGI VEMANA, who lived in 17th century. The programme attracted the public from all walks of life.

1. The KISAN DIWAS was celebrated by AIR, Kurnool and District Collector along with District officials has attended the programme. Farmers from surrounding villages participated in the programme.
2. A Certificate of commendation was received by the District Collector for KisanVani programmes produced by AIR, Kurnool on 26th January, 2017.
3. Interview with Smt. Butta Renuka, Member of Parliament, Kurnool was broadcast by AIR, Kurnool on Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana scheme and Fasal BeemaYojana. An Interview with Shri B.C. Janardhan Reddy, M.L.A. was also broadcast.

The new HDBR system has been introduced in the studios by replacing all the old C.T.R.s and U.P.T.Rs. The Station is fully computerised. Every section is equipped with Computers and networking is installed and within the reach of every employee, so that no work is delayed. The technical staff is well trained. The Engineering Head has strived very hard in every technical aspect –
1. All the obsolete and scrap material was also disposed off at the instructions of Directorate General, All India Radio, New Delhi.
2. All the old Cables were replaced with new ones
3. A.I.R., Kurnool was in the first batch to introduce SMS service in the listeners choice music
4. Every year Mahasivaratri celebrations held at Sanctum Sanctorum of Srisailam, Kurnool district are covered and broadcast LIVE and is relayed by all the other 11 stations in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
5. The Old AC Plants and Diesel Generators are replaced with new units
The most appreciated service was attended by the staff of All India Radio during the hard flood situation prevalent in Kurnool town on 2nd October, 2009. The transmission was extended beyond 11-00 PM and special transmission was started from 11-00 PM onwards. A.I.R. has acted as mediator between victims of floods and the authorities of Kurnool district. Many lives were protected. The action taken by A.I.R. in this regard was much appreciated. The staff who were on duty during this period have been felicitated by the District Collector by Merit Certificates.

(c) An appreciation letter has been received from the Directorate General, All India Radio, New Delhi stating that A.I.R. Kurnool is adjusted as one of the best Farm and Home programme producing station in India.
(d) The Revenue generation by A.I.R., Kurnool is also remarkable and it is highest among all the other stations situated in A.P. and Telangana for the last few years.
In conclusion, it is conveyed that the 25 years celebrations are envisaged and Directorate is being approached for necessary additional funds. The celebrations may take place during October or November of this year, as presently some civil works are in progress and temperature levels are also high in Kurnool district during summer season.
