DD Saptagiri to get DSNG, OB vans

Doordarshan Saptagiri will soon have a Digital Satellite News Gathering (DSNG) van and an OB (Outside Broadcast) van for the effective functioning of the kendra, according to Director of Programmes M.V. Bhagawan. Speaking to The Hindu here on Monday, he said the DSNG van will help transmitting news from the spot for the benefit of the viewers. “From January 1, we have started beaming two Telugu feature films – one in the morning and the other in the night - which were well-received by the viewers,” he added. Mr. Bhagawan said several programmes were on the pipeline and concerted efforts were being made to rope in experts for producing the features. “Soon we will air “Mana Amaravati”, a programme which will bring to fore the making of the capital city. ‘Andhra Prasasthi’ a programme on the arts, culture and heritage of the Andhra Pradesh will be made by involving the experts in their respective fields”.

DD Saptagiri, keeping an eye on the important segment of the viewers - the youth- is planning to come out with ‘Yuva Bheri’ and ‘Nuvvante Naku Istam’ and these programmes will carry both entertainment and educational values. “Talent shows for the youth are also on the cards as they provide a platform for the talented youth to showcase their talent.” He said “Swarajhari”, a live programme which was filmed recently was beamed in two deferred telecasts on New year Day and Sankarati Day and they were received well by the viewers.
