AIR Ambikapur completed 40 years of its glorious service to the Nation, today on 26.12.2016. The station has served all sections of society and has been catalyst for changes and development in the region transforming the lives of lacks of common folks. Prasar Bharati Parivar is proud of hundreds of administrative, engineering, programme and news persons who have worked tirelessly to bring the station to this stage and those who are still working at the station and contributing their pie for upliftment of local masses.

It’s time to congratulate all of them who have been directly or indirectly associated with the station. We invite all our friends to post their comments to appreciate their efforts. We also request the employees/ex employees of the station to share their experiences and thoughts on this faithful day by adding them in the comments.

Shri RG Dakshindas, former CE, now in his 80s ( Tel 07588476649, 020 25439644 ) was installation officer of AIR Ambikapur. Shri Mohan Singh, Retired Chief Engineer was Asstt. Installation Engineer in the team that installed this radio station. He recalled - This was the first assignment of my career and hence it is etched in my memory forever. I started from Bombay (now Mumbai) and after a seemingly unending journey, reached Ambikapur on 10 th October 1975. The rainy season had not yet ended that year. A board by the roadside declared the population of the town as around 23000 at that time. There was no railway, no national newspaper, no dialing telephones, no icecream and the like. But these amenities never weighed on the mind as there was so much to learn. The local people were very curious, enthusiastic and helpful. The local artists would enquire every now and then : "How much more time will it take to complete your installation?" The trader community would extend all help and would even give hardware, textile materials etc for office, without waiting for the payment and without ever reminding for the same. The local villagers living near the transmitter site at Silphili were as simple and happy as ever. And with the good wishes of all, the radio station was inaugurated in December 1976 in the presence of the Hon'ble Monister and invited audience. The permanent studios came up later.I retired as Chief Engineer from AIR Directorate in 2010. I will always remember the opportunity given by the Ambikapur Project to launch me in the profession. I wish to convey my best wishes to all the staff of AIR Ambikapur.
Best wishes from PB Parivar. For posting your comments just click the COMMENT link provided below this post.
