82nd Kannada Sahitya Sammelana held at Raichur was the premier gathering of writers, poets, cultural gathering and Kannadigas, It was held with the aim of preserving and developing Kannada language.The 82nd edition of Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, three days State sponsored literary festival, began in Raichur last Friday. Minister for Primary and secondary Education and Raichur in charge Tanveer Sait, inaugurated the procession. Siddaramayya, Chief Minister of Karnataka inaugurated the three days function.
All India Radio, Raichur broadcast live on inaugural day, including procession and all the ten seminor covered on State hook up with skeleton staff of Programme and Engineering Section. M. A. Sudarshan, Head of Office made planning for live broadcast and Radio reports on State Hook up. Sridevi, Engineering Head supported the same. The entire programme was organized at Agricultural University campus with planned manner.
A colourful procession, that began from Karnataka sangh at 9.30am, marched through Vivekananda Circle, Netaji Circle, Patel Raod, Chandramouleshwar chowk, Sath Kacheri Road and Basaveswara circle to reach Agriculture University. Total marched distance around 7 kms. Baraguru Ramchandrappa, the Designated President of the Semionor and Kannada Sahitya Parishad President Dr Manu Baligar were carried in a chariot with a cheering crown in the procession.Around 38 cultural teams, all displaying rural folk traditions, who have arrived from different parts of the State, participated in the procession. A 1282 feet long Karnataka State flag that was leading the procession from the front was one of the major attractions. We can see colourful paintings adorn every compound wall, while all monuments are illuminated. People are decorated their homes too, as if preparing for a festival. Raichur is hosting the literary festival for the third time after 60 years.
