Recently, India’s Minister for Information & Broadcasting Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu said in a press release that All India Radio plays a significant role, providing “tireless service to millions of Indians during natural disasters like the Hud Hud cyclone, devastating floods in Tamil Nadu and the Kashmir deluge.”Over the last several years, AIR has also reinvented itself through Digital Radio Mondiale, live streaming of services and if course its mobile app. (We’ve previously reported on AIR’s deployments of new high-power MW transmitters.) Prime Minister Narendra Modi also chose All India Radio to broadcast the “Mann Ki Baat” program, in which he addresses his constituents across the subcontinent. The minister mentioned this during a recent at the Akashwani Annual Awards Ceremony at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi.Naidu said that All India Radio had excelled in the domain of content creation, technical innovation, news gathering and intrepid reporting “despite odds and challenges,” and further “in the era of unbridled and cut throat melee for dishing out sensational uncorroborated news to boost TRPs, All India Radio stands alone for its objective reporting and admirable presentation.”
