Public broadcaster Prasar Bharati and one of the leading varsities Visva Bharati have come together to entertain the listeners of All India Radio with programmes reflecting the country's rich cultural heritage.According to an MoU signed between AIR and Viswa Bharati today, the varsity will produce a composite one-hour programme for morning broadcast and another one-hour programme for an evening slot. Visva Bharati, one of the major central government universities, is located in Santiniketan, West Bengal. AIR, or Akashwani as it is commonly known, already has a radio station in Santiniketan, the seat of rich Bengali culture. According to officials, top functionaries of Prasar Bharati, including its chairperson A Surya Prakash, and Viswa Bharati, led by its V-C Swapan Dutta, were present at the signing of the MoU. Following the agreement, Prakash tweeted, "Visva-Bharati & Prasar Bharati come together - sign MOU for momentous collaboration in radio and TV programmes." "All India Radio, Shantiniketan will soon be a full-fledged station," the Prasar Bharati chief added in another tweet.
