In Mizoram, Finance Minister Lalsawta said that "All India Radio is known for its authenticity and credibility of news". The Finance Minister was speaking as Chief Guest at the releasing ceremony of the Golden Jubilee Souvenir of AIR Aizawl today.Addressing the gathering, the Finance Minister said that since AIR is being known for its credibility and authenticity of news, he urged the staff of AIR to keep on the good work so as to uphold the dignity of the public service broadcaster. Lalsawta, himself a regular listener of AIR News further said that the news broadcast by AIR is considered as a "gospel" truth by the people.The Finance Minister also distributed "Cerficate of Appreciation" to AIR Talkers who have delivered more than 100 Radio Talks in AIR Aizawl during the last 50 years.The releasing function of the Golden Jubilee Souvenir held today was attended by the staff, invitees and pensioners of AIR Aizawl. In his speech, D R Lalropuia, Director (E) & Head of Office said that All India Radio, Aizawl started functioning on 31st July, 1966. He narrated the contributions and achievements of AIR Aizawl for the past fifty years for the people of Mizoram. The Director informed that the functioning of AIR Aizawl would be completely digitalized soon for which necessary steps have been taken up in right earnest. At a time when different forms of media are coming up, D R Lalropuia said that Radio is gaining more popularity with the monthly "Mann Ki Baat" program of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.The main celebration of the Golden Jubilee of All India Radio, Aizawl was held on July 30, 2016 at Vanapa Hall in Aizawl with Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla as Chief Guest.
