BES (I), Thanjavur Chapter in Co-ordination with Shivani Engineering College Organized a lecture on “Cyber Law & Safety in Social Media” on 27.09.2016. The function inauguration by lighting the lamp by the delicates and welcome address given by Dr.Ganesan Shanthi, Principal, Shivani Engineering college, Dr.P.Selvaraj, Chairman, Shivani Group of Institution, presented Presidential address. Key note Address given by Smt.A.Chitra, Chairperson, BES(I), Thanjavur Chapter, briefed about the activates and importance of Broadcast Engineering Society and its services to the students and Engineering community. Chairperson invited the college faculties and students to become as a member of BES(I) to enrich their knowledge in the field of Broadcast Engineering. Guest Lecture was delivered by Shri.V.Appakkutty, Ex-Chief Engineer, O/o All India Radio & Doordarshan, South Zone, Chennai topic on “Cyber Law & Safety in Social Media”.
The seminar on Cyber crime and safety in social website is to educate and inform the youngsters about various type of crimes being happening and also about the stringent laws in force .Social networking is a platform of online sites that focus on building relationships among people who may share the same interest or activities. It provides a way for users to interact over the Internet. Users are often identified by their profiles, which can consist of photos and basic information, such as location, likes and dislikes, as well as friends and family. Well-known sites such as Facebook, MySpace, whats app and Friendster,etc.. have taken social networking to a new level. In addition to the convenience of being able to access these websites from a computer, there are also applications on mobile devices that make it easy to access social applications anywhere and anytime. He or she may not be aware of the dangers of online networking and what precautions he or she should take to stay safe. The seminar is going to deal about safe sharing of our profiles and pictures.
