Renowed mridangam artiste Harimohanan of Kerala finds a place in the Limca Books of Records (LBR) for developing Carnatic musical taal with 13-1/2 beats named as Sivapalathalam. Talking to reporters here today, Harimohanan and others said with this, his innovation has been enlisted in the LBR as a national record. According to a communication received from LBR, Kamal Sadan Harimohanan, an award winning mridangam artiste from Kannur, Kearla has developed a complicated taal, with 13-1/2 beats which he has named Sivapalathalam, after his father Nandan Sivapalan. This has been endorsed by some of the maestros of the music fraternity as a new innovation in Carnatic music, it added. Stating he was getting accolades from different places for the innovation, they said many people were foraying to his place to know and learn about the new taala, they added. Artistes N Hari of All India Radio, Kozhikode and Viajayakumar of Thiruvanthapuram were also present at the press meet.UNI PCH KVV ADB1615
