Dear Ream Dharwad,
I would like to offer my hearty congratulations and thanks to the entire Prasar Bharati team for a wonderful recording of the Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan last evening at the Srujana Auditorium in Dharwad. Both the artistes, G. Sree Vidya (Carnatic vocal) and Biswajit Roy Chowdhury (sarod) were wonderful. Pt. Roy Chowdhury sensitively paid a fitting tribute to one of his gurus, the legendary Pt. Mallikarjun Mansur from Dharwad, by playing 2 of the bandishes Mansur is best known for in raga Bihagada and Nat Bihag... very moving for Dharwad residents. His shorter pieces in Durga and Kafi were also excellent. We look forward to reliving the performances when they are broadcast on AIR.
I have similarly great memories of watching Radio Sangeet Sammelan recordings in Dharwad, including Rajan and Sajan Mishra, I think in the year 2002-2003, and others. Glad to see the tradition continuing, and hope it lives on for many years. Also hope the video recordings can be telecast on DD at some point.
Congratulations to the Dharwad AIR team for excellent local arrangements.
