The award was presented by Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil who is Kalburgi District Minister and Medical Education Minister in presence of Central opposition leader Mallikarjuna Kharge. Dr. Perla started his career in Kannada daily news paper 'Samyukta Karnataka' and then he served 16 years in Kalburgi All India Radio and presently working in AIR, Mangalore. He developed Kannada literary activity in Kasargod District which is border area of Karnataka and Kerala. Recently he bagged 'Developmental journalism award' by Information and Publicity Dept., Govt. of Karnataka, At present he was producing 'Banuli Gramayana' (One day Halt at village- concept) in AIR, Mangalore.
