............The festival has always been a promoting pad for upcoming artists, especially from the North East, who wouldn't generally get much attention in the country. Ziro hosted Shillong-based Lou Majaw, who is known for his heartfelt tributes to Bob Dylan.
Indietronica duo Akummika from Nagaland, progressive rock masters Reverse Tragedy from Mizoram, folk fusion band Abiogenesis and more North Eastern performers will get to play their music in front of a country-wide audience, a first for any music festival, especially in the north-east.
As the Doordarshan channel has viewers based mostly in the rural areas, many untouched ears will get to hear the alternative music scene of the country. From what it looks like, this is probably the Indian music scene maturing and getting ready to play for a countrywide audience.
