Audience at the Mahakal Pravachan Hall witnessed impressive presentations of classical music and dance during the fourth presentation of Shravan Mahotsava, here on Sunday evening.The first presentation was given by noted Akashwani and Doordarshan artist classical singer Ranita Dey, who started receiving training of music from her father Tapan Kumar Dey at the age of three. Later, she received training in Indian classical music from Ustad Raza Ali Khan of Kasur Patiala Gharana and stayed under his guidance till the age of 15. The second presentation was given by senior artist of Ujjain Rajendra Vyas. He mesmerised everyone with his violin compositions. He started his presentation with Raag Jog. Rajendra learnt violin from his grandfather Late Govardhanlal Vyas and his father Surendra Vyas, the two noted artists of their times.
He also got the privilege to have acquaintance of Pt Harinarayan Sharma, professor Natwarlal Shah, Ustad Jahir Khan and Ustad Moinuddin Khan. He has been working as violinist at AIR, Bhopal since 1984. Balkrishna Mahant, Radha Mehta and Sangita Vyas accompanied him in percussion and other instruments. The final presentation was given by well known Kathak dancer Rajendra Gangani, a disciple of Pt Kundal Lal Gangani. Gangani started learning Kathak at the age of four. He was born in the family of dancers from renowned Jaipur Gharana. He did his graduation from Kathak Center, New Delhi in 1983-84. At present he works as senior teacher at the same institute. He has performed at national and international stages and has dozens of awards to his credit. He started his presentation with Taal Chopal. Fateh Singh, Brajmohan Parihar and Nafiz Alvi accompanied him in percussion and other instruments.
Earlier, dignitaries including Ujjain Development Authority chairman Jagdish Agrawal, collector in-charge Avinash Lavania, SP Manohar Verma, Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee administrator RP Tiwari, deputy-administrator Rajnish Kasera and assistant administrative officer Preeti Chauhan welcomed the artistes.
